OT: Disability Hearing

Had my disability hearing this morning.

This judge did read the psych reports well enough to understand that the last judge made a major error in claiming that I could return to work if only I'd get counseling for depression

You have all the best wishes from me that I can muster. And hugs to boot. Having seen my mother go through similar tribulations and two lawsuits to get what she should have gotten to begin with, you have my empathy.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you (figuratively speaking...otherwise, it would be too hard to stitch!)

Karen - I just lurk so haven't caught this whole thread. Can I assume you are talking about Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? I'm raging my own battle with it. Having medical professionals, family, friends and coworkers who don't know or believe in it is just salt in an open wound. My best wishes, thoughts and prayers go out to you.

I don't know. I moved to another state almost a year before I really felt much better. I changed a lot of things in my life. I had less stress. I also started walking and trying to exercise, but I am not sure if that was what helped, or if I just could do more as I felt better. Judy

Yes, you may.

for anyone who wants more info about it

Absolutely. Early on in the process, my long-term doctor died, and the quack I went to next didn't think it necessary to be honest with me that he didn't believe in it and I should go somewhere else. He just kept assuring me that he would sign the paperwork, he wanted to help me. What he really did was fill the medical records with lies. As soon as the one-year period to apply for disability had expired, *zap* I couldn't get another appointment with him

I know there's hope, because I recovered about 85% from several relapses. Unfortunately, the dividing line between "may mostly recover" and "probably won't recover much more", statistically, is at five years, and I passed that a couple months ago. I might have recovered if the $%^@!! quacks hadn't made me wait three years before getting an effective sleeping pill to reverse the decline.

It shouldn't take that long and I hope they rule in your favor. I know how hard it is to get SSD, but realize a lot of all this crap they put you through it standard procedure to deter you. It works very well for a remarkably high amount of people. They just can't be bothered to attend the hearings. If you don't get it, request another hearing and keep going till you get it.

Need a good, cheap, knowledge expanding present for yourself or a friend?
