I heard about this on Anderson Cooper's CNN show last night and he remarked that he really didn't think so and they would have to get an American rescue to avoid problems.

Why would getting an American rescue avoid problems? If the Peruvians want to make a gift to POTUS, that gift should be graciously accepted.

Apparently he thought a rescue was the right thing. Maybe he thinks that would satisfy the animal rights activists.

Who knows what goes through the mind of a CNN reporter.

Lucille, did you *REALLY* say that, my D friend??

Why does that surprise you? Do you really think I swallow everything they say. If so, you're wrong.

I pick and choose and believe what I want, or I look it up.

It doesn't surprise me one bit......I do the same and that is why I like you. However, I DID have to pull your chain just a little !

You mean the Ibizan Hound? Similar outline, but Ibizans have hair.

My Maltese doesn't shed either, nor do Shih Tzus and Lhasa Apsos and Havanes and lots of other breeds.

I know the ones you mean, the Moors brought them to Spain and when my parents lived in Menorca in the early 60s most of the dogs looked like the original Egyptian dogs.

Those are likely the ones I am thinking of, three islands, Menorca, Majorca and Ibiza. However, the locals told us the Moors brought them. Now my cousin who still lives there says they are ruined as a result of imported people importing their dogs and mixing with the island dogs.

Menorquins used to hobble their dogs, rings round a front and back leg with a rope between. The dogs managed fine but never went very far from the house, far less were they able to chase any cattle etc.

I am off to google Ibizan Hounds, I think you're right though.

Mumblegrumble! Then how come a short-haired dog like a Bull Terrier cross sheds all over the blasted place? Every stitch of clothing I own is decorated with short white hairs belonging to someone who shall remain nameless! Not only that, but the short hairs have an evil genius for getting literally up one's nose and causing one to sneeze incessantly while trying to winkle aforementioned hair out! It's not fair!

I know exactly what you mean. My dear departed Toy Fox Terror was 9 lbs. of dog with 500 lbs. of short hair that wove itself into every stitch of clothing and piece of furniture in my house.

Most of the dogs that don't shed are either totally hairless, or like Puff have long, silky hair. Maltese don't even have an undercoat and their coat is considered to be hair and not fur. The only dog I know that doesn't have a doggie smell when he's wet.

But they are high maintenance and need grooming every day and haircuts at least once a month or they become one large mass of mats.

Yes. That is the breed. I Googled it. Handsome. Makes one wonder how two breeds can be so similar in stature yet half-way around the world from one another. And with architecture so similar.

When I first took my dear Emma to the vet for her adoption check up, he identified her as a German Shepherd/Collie cross, and cheerful advised me that meant the Collie part of her would shed all year round and the Shepherd part seasonally. Seemed to me most of her hair must have been growing on Collie parts.

Ya know, when my boys were puppies and people would ask me what they'd grow up to look like, I used to say "like a shepherd with a collie coat." That might explain a lot about the dust doggies in this house.

Oh yeah! The Ugly Sister has a Moodle (Maltese/Poodle), a ShitPoo (Shih Tsu/Poodle) and a LhaPoo (Lhasa Apso/Poodle). Oh, and her DS has a Sharpei called 'Roxanne', who is my favourite of the crew. The wrinkles in her widdle bwow make her look permanently perplexed.

Anyway, Ugly is forever grooming her lot and forever cutting their hair for them. Sometimes, she puts it up in little ponytails (!) which I think is highly demeeaning to any animal attempting to be a dog! Cutely, though, all four dogs share a 'kennel' - the Fisher Price playhouse recently vacated by my growing-up DGNieces. They look extremely funny looking out at one through the windows (the dogs, not the Great Nieces...). ;-D
