OT: Host A Murder Party recommendations?

As many of you know, I am a Girl Scout leader. Last year, I took my troop on a Destination: Unknown campout - we didn't tell them where we were going or what they were doing. It was a sort of Fear Factor/ Survivor thing - lots of team building - and they had a blast. They want to do a similar outing this year.

I was thinking it would be fun to do a murder party type of thing. I know there are a lot of sites out there that offer the services. Has anyone used one? Is it worth the price? Is there a cheap one? Or better yet, do you know where I can find the instructions/a party for free online?

Thanks!

Ask your parents. Someone may have a murder party game hanging around. I know I used to have 2, till I sold them at a yard sale.

After this shooting , i would reconsider playing any games that make the word Murder seem a game mirjam

That was my reaction too!

Maybe the 'game' could morph into who stole a treasure instead.

Actually, I am asking for Murder Mysteries to borrow the plot line - I really don't intend to have someone killed, but to have our troop mascot "kidnapped." However, motivation, methods used, etc., could be pretty similar.

What I intend to do is have the four adults take on the roles. The girls will be in teams. In order to win the "right" to interview a suspect, they have to finish some challenge(s) - possibly several as the easy one will earn you x info and harder ones more.

With the popularity of CSIs, I can see this as being really fun.

One of my favourite shows is/was The Mole. In the Australian version, they did a similar thing on a boat. Each person went down into the room the crime took place alone. Then they were interviewed by the 'police' member.

You could do similar. Have each person go into a shielded area. The person marked as "thief" could take the hidden treasure (something small enough to hide both in the room and on themselves). Then they have to figure out when it went missing and who was the last one to see it (if they even know they saw it).

At least this way, the victim still gets to play.

Anne . I never allowed any game connected to Wars /guns/ murder into the house ,,, i did allow looking for clues about Archeological digs, stolen stuff , even codes etc,,, Plenty of the Bad stuff in real life why encourage it ??

Yes, and that's a *pacifists* view on life. "I don't like it, don't believe in it, so it's not coming into my house". But will that prepare the children for real life, where crimes can and *do* happen????

Anne , thank you for that Copliment . Yes in a way that is a pacifistic point of view , but not as you describe it, i Stated that There is plenty of Bad happenings in life , And i don`t believe that enacting /playing them in House games with children will Prepare them to life. On the contrary , I believe that playing this kinds of games , enhances the charm of the evil side. When murdering is a game , it `frees` some of the Taboos , we have as Humans against killing. I even believe that people who Curse others saying they `will kill them` , should be told that is unacceptable, And Bad behaviour. I believe that EXpressing such a thing unlocks some of the Taboos against agression , after expressing the `will kill ` sevewral times , Hiting is easy , after all it is less than the `killing` , which the mind of that person , has already expressed without hesitation. My children leared that guns are dangerous and should be used only when you have learned How to use them , and only for Self deffence . That was my way of preparing them for real life. mirjam
