lol...... if we're lucky we get the roads gritted, but that depends whether the lorry drivers can get to the Council Depots in the snow ! No-one seems to pay attention to weather forcasts, but then a respected Weatherman said 'What hurricane' about 20 years ago. ;o))

It's twenty years since this happened before, I think buying, maintaining ploughs would not be fiscally responsible. How's the Wallington area doing ?

I rememeber back in 1978 or 1979, we spent Christmas with my parents in Charlbury, outside of Oxford. We were in between moving from Spain to Maryland USA. It snowed around New Years Day, and my kids went out with some of the neighbor kids and sledded down the hills .

I wonder if they still remember that!

Probably the same as our area. No busses, no trains, schools closed. My son-in-law drove to London on Sunday morning. Left to come home at 4pm, and arrived just after 9.

It would appear that England is receiving Scotland's share of winter weather. No snow up here although it is quite chilly.

As I see it, one of the problems the UK and Europe have is what will the future hold? If the world is warming up, then this is an unusual occurrence, and it would be a bad idea to invest in snow clearing equipment. However, if we really are heading for a new Little Ice Age, (end of the 17th Century), then now is the time to start thinking about how to cope with more severe winter weather. Jim.

I think I will call my aunt presently. They are late 80s but very good at being prepared. If anything happens they can go five or six days as a rule without particularly needing anything. The local church is also good about checking up on its elderly as well.

Hold your breath, your turn will come. Must say I would feel happier if I thought Al Gore was somewhere, snowed in but the b...r probably jet setted off to some tropical island somewhere.
