OT-My week from Hell

Just for the heck of it, let me tell you the tale of woe about my crum-bum week.

First I discovered that the headlight on the passenger side of my car is missing the plastic cover. Whether it just fell off, or someone needed the part (it's a 98 model) who knows, but it's going to cost over $100 to replace, and that's a bargain price.

Second, one of my important items around the house isn't working correctly and giving me a big headache.

Then the topper. I head a crunch when I went out of the garage this morning and didn't pay attention. When I came home I saw a black ring on the floor. Idiot that I am I picked it up to see what it was and immediately got grease all over my hands and the front of my pants. If that wasn't enough aggravation I noticed that it was one of the rollers that go into the track of the door. I called the repair people only to find out that because of the rotten economy they had to let a couple of their repair people go and one is on vacation next week and the other is swamped with business so they can't come until next Friday. The suggestion was that if possible I don't use the door at all so it doesn't get twisted if it comes off the track completely. Now I have to leave the car with the uncovered headlamp out in the storm Florida weather.

Damned house!!!

Ah, yes. The joy of homeownership.

My ex really wanted to take the house in the divorce until I started citing the thousands of dollars of repairs that needed to be made urgently, i.e., the next year of apartment living will cost you a mere fraction of what the next year in the house will cost me. Suddenly, it was not the prize he thought it was.

Would it be possible to find one at a junk/salvage yard? Oftentimes you can get car parts there fairly cheaply. Or used to be able to...not sure about these days! Anyway, it's something to check on.

((((((((((Lucille)))))))))) Wish I could do more.....

I'm not sure whether you're going to believe this but I am getting it from a junk/salvage yard. The car part place originally told me $165 but felt sorry for me when I got my poor me look and called a salvage place.

As with most things for cars nowadays, you have to buy the whole headlight. They said a dealership might have just the one side that's missing but then they would charge triple the price and I wouldn't accomplish anything.

Thanks for the hugs

What else isn't working? I'll trade house problems for a moody teenager. (right now I have both)

And dish washing soap works well on grease stains.

Glad you got the car part. But have you tried putting plastic wrap and duct tape over the open area?

Definitely no trade. Been there, done that !! lol

That what I used and it did take it out. Another thing that works for odd stains is shampoo.

I already did just that. Today the car is still in the garage but I'll have to move it sometime soon and then it will be outside for the rest of the week. We've had wild thunderstorms every afternoon and the forecast is for more of the same this week.

Happy 4th of July

I'm thinking they usually snap out of it around 20 - so how old is he now ?

I'd take him, but I'm just about positive he'd refuse to come here.

I know boys are different, but I gotta say 16 was my worst year. Oy! and my poor mother was almost 60 at the time. It's a wonder either of us survived it.

Then develop some fortitude or send him off to help people in some undeveloped nation for four years, that might do it lol RDH

My aunt who was 52 when she gave birth to her only child a son (oldest record world wide for an only child that was not IV or somehow generated) really coped extremely well until he hit 15. Then one night I had a 'phone call and she tells me "I knew you wouldn't mind, I bought him a ticket and he will be with you within the week, you've had so much experience with handling teens" - I was not a happy camper I can tell you !

Nowadays if Cheryl dispatched her DS, I'd send him right back toot sweet lol

Honestly, except for the moodiness descending randomly, 15 and 16 (so far) are much better than 13 was. I was sure neither of us would survive it.
