OT: NEW Cat Baby :-)))

Hi Guys, Well, we are the proud new Mom & Dad of Ivy a medium hair tortie who is about 3 years old. We found out that Bunnie, the calico we had originally been interested in, did not get along with other kitties. Ivy *does* like other kitties but isn't too sure about people and is pretty shy. That's fine with us -- she can take as long as she likes to get comfy in her new home. She is currently in the Jack & Jill bathroom between the guest bedroom and the computer room. Her litter box is in the smaller section with the sink for the guest bedroom. The kennel we brought her home in is in the section with the bathtub toilet along with a nice warm rug, a big blanket as a nest, food & water. There is a scratching post in the larger section with the sink for the computer room. The door to the guest bedroom is closed and a large screen is in front of the doorway into the computer room. It's set up so that she can get out if she wants but Cassie can't get in. Cassie actually already came to have a sniff and say hello. When DH brought the Ivy and the carrier in and set it in the kitchen, Cassie came right in and had a bit of a sniff and looked in the holes on the side. Ivy has already come out of the carrier and had a bit of a walkabout in her new "digs". She was ready to have a look-see out of the screen but then stopped and slowly went back to her "house" (the carrier). I looked and saw Cassie walking away so I'm sure that Ivy didn't want to get up close & personal just yet. Anywhoo, she's very pretty and I will be posting a photo. In the meantime, here is her web page set up by the rescue group, Cats In The Cradle --

Needless to say, I am happy to have another cat baby, especially one who needs a family who won't rush her to get adjusted. CiaoMeow >^;;^<PAX, Tia Mary >^;;^< (RCTQ Queen of Kitties)Angels can't show their wings on earth but nothing was ever said about their whiskers! Visit my Photo albums at

Cats are great..and much as I love the dachsies, one has a better human/nonhuman relationship with cats I think.

At the very least they don't need to go out, thy rarely fight over food and treats.

IF, God forbid, I was alone again, I would have a kitty. I was raised with them and they like me.

Possibly Ivy, where she has to compete with another cat in the house, will warm up sooner.

She's a pretty little thing and lucky to have you. I do hope she settles in quickly and falls in love with you and your family.

But YOUR Ivy looks more like the Miss Priss we fostered for about a year. She came to us as a stray, front declawed and spayed, but no one claimed her after ads in local paper, fliers and notification of all area vets and local shelter... We named her Priscilla, Queen of the Bathroom (since that was where she lived for the first 2+/- weeks we had her), but shortened it to Miss Priss... The people who (eventually) adopted her, gave her to their daughter who was (at the time) attending Purdue University & had her first ever apartment. She was renamed Cordelia (ugh - hate that name), which aparently fits her as she is now the master of a very obediant slave and is doing very well as an only cat (she despised our other cats), now living in Indianapolis.

We get frequent updates as DH works with new slave's mother :)

I just signed up for the reminder. It looks like a really good place to get inexpensive little gifts for my pet lover friends.

Thanks.

Well, Ivy managed to get out of the bathroom last night. I had set up the screen across the bathroom door in such a way that she would be able to get out if she wanted but Cassie (Baby Cat) would have difficulty getting in. I was a bit surprised that Ivy wanted to go walkabout so soon -- never had a cat who did that! Of course, she's nowhere to be found but she has used the cat box twice -- THAT is good :-). I have taken up the food and when she gets hungry enough, she'll make her way back to civilization. I'm just happy to know that we have another furbaby, especially one who despurrrrately needed a home where her shyness would not be a drawback. Oh, BTW, I do believe I shall begin using her full name of Ivy Jane. The woman from the rescue group said she started calling her that over a a year ago as it just seemed to "fit". Since all of my babies get additional, descriptive stuff added to their name, Ivy will henceforth be called IvyJane (Garbanzo Brain). Torties are SO smart and SO crazy and SO entertaining that we have always called them garbanzo brain kitties -- they think of THE oddest stuff to do :-))). CiaoMeow >^;;^<

There was a deaf young boxer on tv today, looking for a home - she`s gorgeous, and I bet she`s been homed already. The RSPCA have been training her with hand signals. As a matter of fact we`ve started doing that to a certain extent with "Waggymuffin", as she`s definitely getting deaf. (At first we thought it was just selective, but we`re convinced it`s genuine now!) She`s responding very well to signals.
