OT:Royal Rumour?

Can you find that in the Bible? Or your "writings"? It isn't there. Women have a habit of imagining what they think things should be. You'd better inform yourself, there are no "apostles to the apostles". Never.

Henry II actually married Eleanor of Aquitaine, not Katherine of Aragon.

Thomas a Becket, of course, who had been a great friend of Heney II, joining him in debaucherous escapades until he became more and more powerful, eventually becoming Archbishop of Canterbury and, of course, the Pope`s representative in England (and we all know how THAT ended!). A prime example of the old saying that "There`s nowt worse than a convert!"

EXCUSE ME ???????

Where did you get this Generalization from ? from your imagination ?

There are human beings of both sexes who imagine as well as humans of both sexes who don`t imagine .... mirjam

Which pre-supposes that women at that time weren`t capable (for whatever reason) of doing so - so how could they teach? ;-))

Pat P

Which just supports my theory of religion - all "Fairytales". No wonder I`m an atheist.

discussion.

Yes she was loved - no-one thought her divine - she was, as Sharon says, fine until the Windsors dragged her in, chewed her up and spat out the pieces. I get heartily sick of people saying, disapprovingly "She was an adulteress". Not until her spineless husband and his paramour were shown up for what they were and had been since before the marriage.

They are going to have to humiliate themselves and confess their sins and apologise for them during the blessing. Oh, that will mean everything`s alright then! Forget about about it all, they`re perfect. How sincere will THAT be!

Oh, by the way, Parliament are looking into Charles` finances in respect of Capital Gains tax, etc., mainly to do with the Duchy of Cornwall estates. He IS having a good time! I know I wished them nothing good, but I didn`t expect everything to go as delightfully wrong as it has.

Wasn`t Mr. Parker Bowles a Catholic and Camilla a convert after their marriage? I`m sure I`ve seen that somewhere - which, if so, opens a whole new can of worms. It gets better and better.

And, like a flag, they should be "waived".

Figureheads usually end up rotting, nailed up on pub walls. Good plan.

An unbiased report Jim ???

Sure she knew what was expected of her and I think she tried her very best being a royal - and she did a fine job in my book, but to be publicly disgraced by that bozo of a husband of hers was just too much for her.

I watched the spectacle on tv this morning and when they were asked if they'd be faithful to one another ... blah blah, I laughed ... words, just words apparently to the almighty royals.

Sharon (N.B.) ............................................................................

Having tried out her sister, Mary, first! LOL!

Well, it seems that while he was not faithful to Diana, he did maintain his relationship with Camilla, unless there were other women involved in his life during his marriage that I've not heard about(which is always a possibility, I guess). Charles doesn't strike me as one that would have women throwing themselves at him, so I don't think future fidelity would be much of an issue. Is it possible that Diana was warned beforehand and felt she could either deal with it, or change Charles' feelings? If so, neither of those things happened apparently.

It`s just an instinct. The same one that makes me prefer doctors to be men and nurses to be women!

I think when they pledged to be faithful this may have been the first time they were actually saying it like it really is. .faithful. After all, they were faithful in the past and probably will be in the future. Unfortunately their faith was to each other and not to their respective spouses !!

I do agree, however, that these are just words without too much meaning.

But 2000 years ago, things were so much different to today, and they were happy enough with their place in the scheme of things. It has taken all that time to progress, and in many parts of the world things haven`t changed at all in that respect. They are quite content until they find out about "progress". I often wonder if "Progress" has made women more contented or less!

Pat P

Marg,

Thanks for not just reading what I wrote, but *understanding* what I wrote. Reading and comprehension don't always go together. :-)

Tara

"They were happy enough" ?!?! ::Cough cough::

Time to re-read the history books...

Tara

Seems very little to expect in the exchange, confession is good for the soul. The exchange... Charles get to marry his mistress and no alimony payments to the first wife. Camilla gets to be Queen of England and gasp! Canada if she can live long enough. At this point what are a few more little white lies. It is a fairy tale don't you know, star crossed lovers, surmounting all obstacles united at last in marriage GAG!! The wreckage strewn about them no big deal. You never hear much about how this wonderful love story affected her children. S Ruby

Who knows Carey? People (well, women) throw themselves at Mick Jagger!!! Whyyyyyyyy?? :-))

Sharon (N.B.) ...........................................................................

Quite true Ruby - were her children in attendance at the wedding? I have to admit she did look lovely - I don't wish them any ill will ... I just wish he'd married her in the first place, rather than ruin a young girl's life cuz she was a good untarnished breeder.

If they don't change some of those antiquated rules William will be in the same predicament of having to find a breeder. ruby
