OT Sharing bad news

I have decided I won't have another unless one gets wished on me somehow, as Bucket was. Several months ago there was a stray picked up in the parking lot, so that could happen. Other than that, I am going to have cats here when their owners go away. Cleo is coming in August for a couple of weeks lol That will be fun and then I would have a better idea if another cat is helpful. As you say, Bucket was a one off, so not really replaceable.

Bucket was talkative too, I would speak to him and he would answer, funny how some cats do that.

Yup. That's true. It took me 2-1/2 years or so before I was ready to get another cat.

Now, with our 14YO doggie who is on comfort care now with an inoperble tumor and who has only days/weeks/possibly months until she needs her reservation for the trip to the Rainbow Bridge, I decided that the time to get another doggie, if at all possible, was while she was still around (a) so it wouldn't seem like we were just sitting around waiting for her to go and (b) so I wouldn't feel like I was replacing/succeeding her.

Sorry to hear that, it's sad to watch them ease away. I think that is an excellent idea but I could not have followed that principle with Bucket, violence would have ensued. He was very hard on my daughters dog that I minded when they went on vacation, heaven only knows what he would have done to another cat lol

*smile* I know what you mean, but Winnie (as in Winnie the Pooch) is a very gentle soul.

I get so upset with people who say "It's just a pet" -- idiots have no clue! For some odd reason, I can barely read about someone losing a "baby" let alone respond and send HUGS! I end up sitting here crying and crying and can't go any further. It's probably because of difficulties DD has been having for the last few months and I'm just on pins & needles all the time. VBS -- I'll be so glad when Dh retires in a few years and we are back in the Lizard Land mountains. At least then I will only be 2 1/2 hours drive away and not this horrid 4+ hour expensive flight! Anyway -- our "babies' are just THAT -- babies to us and when they have to cross the Rainbow Bridge, it's absolutely horrible even when we know it is for the best :*[ . HUGS to all of you who have lost a dear one recently, especially for Sheena's poor old Bucket. I'll miss her stories about him and his "attitude". {{{Margaret & Sheena & Teegs))). CiaoMeow >^;;^<

It does indeed, I am not alone though, Margaret and Tegan have also had similar losses and you know how misery loves company.
