OT: Sucker for a Pretty Face

Dec 21, 2006 12 Replies

Last weekend my middle dd was volunteering with some animal rescue people at a local adoption day. Because she's under 17 she's working with the dogs, rather then cats. Not sure why the age thing is in place, but thems the rules!

Anyway, as we were leaving she says, "Mom, I haven't looked at the cats yet!" Being nice, I said sure, lets go look. Top cage, right at eye level is a little siamese kitten. He looks right at me, making full eye contact and mews. Those pretty bright blue eyes got to me, and he looks just like Ping Pong (he who passed away this fall) did as a kitten. Ping's girl had been really sad since he left, and had mentioned on more than one occasion that she missed having her own cat.

Yep, little bitty thing came home with us.

DD is thrilled! She about burst into tears when she saw him in Dude's outstretched hands when we got home.

She's named him Simon (Dude calls him Snot tho), and he just fit into the household immediately. The other pets accepted him without any issues. He has two speeds, full out insanity and asleep (preferably on a person).

is a bit blurry, because when his eyes are open, he never stopsmoving!

Aw. Congrats on the new addition. Sounds like he fit right into the menagerie!

PS I don't know what to do about my problem with AOL and IMs. I could see you, but my reply just heads off into cyberspace somwhere and that's it. Oh.

Too cute! I'd have brought him home too. Is he talky?

Sara

Oh yes! Keeps up a running commentary as he prowls the house!

Caryn

I'm not much of a cat person, but I am a sucker for a Siamese!

Cheryl

Oh Caryn -- what a handsome little fellow! Looks like Santa came a bit early for your family :-)! New babies are so sweet, aren't they? Even the "crazy" ones. I'm sure you and your family will have a great time with him. CiaoMeow >^;;^<

Our pure white cat, Surrey, has lots of Siamese in her (LOVES water) and appears on my website at

What a little sweetie. They can drive you crazy but Siamese have so much character. I'd have a house full of them if Max the tabby would let me. Dora

You`d have loved to visit when I had seventeen Siamese kittens (Bad planning, in some ways!) They were actually three litters born at roughly the same time! I had a sign on the door "Beware of low flying kittens". It was hilarious when they were let out of the kitten pens! Chasing each other up the curtains was standard. The three mothers washed any kitten that came close enough, but all the kittens went to the right mothers when it came to bedtime. I still miss them (the Siameasles - not all those kittens, necessarily!)

Pat

Oh, one was enough, but two is probably better when they're kittens. She used to run up behind me, jump, and dig her claws into my bum to get me to chase her when she was a kitten. That's why I got Max. Dora

My vet here is always telling people the best gift they can get their cat is another cat.

We got Billy partly as a present for Inky (about 12 at the time.) We'd never had such a tiny kitten before (he was about 5 weeks, found abandoned and rescued by a friend.) Inky didn't know what hit him. This tiny kitten attacked Inky at every turn and Inky is so good-natured, he never fought back or just whapped him one. Now Billy is huge and still chases Inky occasionally. Although sometimes I see them curled up together which is heartening.
