OT: Sudoku

Is anyone else addicted to these puzzles? I've found a few online games via Googling but thought people on here might know of some sites I haven't found yet. No wonder I didn't get any stitching done last month!

I wouldn't say that I'm addicted, but I do the one in my morning paper every morning. They are a lot of fun. Lou

Brenda Lewis had some very interesting things to say about OT: Sudoku:

Yeah, those evil little number grids have got me hooked. :-)

What site(s) do you like?

Another addict here *raising hand, waving*

Discovered these this summer when we moved back to the land of the Washington Post. At first I struggled. Now I can a do the easy ones in under 5 minutes. The medium ones take 10-15, but sometimes the hard ones still defeat me.

I see they have books of these for sale at Barnes and Noble. I walked past and tried not to look at them...

I have become totally addicted to these as well. My favorite site is:

can select the difficulty level, it has pencil and pen for temp values and final values. You can also check your work as you go to see if your answer is currently ok. I have printed them out at the end of the day when I haven't finished it -- then the next day I enter the puzzle number back in, add my values and continue. Michael F. Parenteau

I saw a few months ago a small burb in Entertainment Weekly that Sudoku was an "in" thing, and crossword puzzles were so "last week." I asked my DH if he knew about it, and he gave me a snide, "Not interested! I don't follow fads or trends!" I looked up a Sudoku site to see what it was and forwarded the site to my DH. I have to pry him off the Sudoku sites with a crowbar now! LOL!

Did you *have* to tell me that? :-)

Hello All,

I love them too.

Dell have published them for years and (used to at least) call them Number Place. I suspect the Japanese who called them Sudoku got them from Dell in the first place.

They are my favourite type of puzzles, but I have been doing Dell puzzles for more than 25 years. I do have to adjust for spelling sometimes, but my favourites are mainly number puzzles and logic problems so language problems are only a consideration with anacrostics and so on. I don't tend to do crosswords. :)

(Very OT indeed!)

The first newspaper in the UK to host these puzzles was The Times, and their website contains their daily puzzle. Because the bandwagon is getting full, they are coming out with some interesting variations on the theme to remain in the driving seat. Here's a link:
