Not Really OT: Jigsaw puzzles

It's all Mz. Butterfly's fault. Yep, she did it.

Just before they moved to Arizona (from hot moving to hot), DH and I went up to give them a hand getting ready. She and I packed most of her quilting studio. I fell in love with the Rebecca Barker jigsaw puzzles she had hanging on the wall. When she couldn't sit to quilt recently she got some of these puzzles to do.

Has anyone else seen these? They are called Quiltscapes, and feature a particular quilt block that is incorporated into the overall design. Oh, my stars, they are beautiful!!!

I have gotten five now from eBay. Yep, just what I need, another thing to do.

I bought one yesterday while out kicking around!! They are wonderful!!! The one I bought is an older farm scene with fireflies and a beautiful scrappy quilt design.

Thank you for the idea. We have a DIL who has thus far resisted quilting. She is, however, a maniac about jigsaw puzzles. I wonder if a couple of Rebecca Barker's would tempt her. (Bwaaa-ha-ha). Polly

Hi All, I just go to Jigzone.com every morning to do their daily jigsaw puzzle. You can even select the number of pieces that you want it cut into. It's very relaxing.

I have the snow geese puzzle - it looks just like the field down the road when the snow geese come to the area!

Thanks for the info. They are beautiful. I'm always looking for nice puzzles for my mom and MIL. They both love it as a pass time! I did find a couple of sites for those interested:

I have several jigsaws done and framed, from years ago. In this house there is no place for me to put them up so they are in storage. Looking forward to having a place where I can hang them all again.

Several years ago while living in Los angeles, there was an article in the local paper about someone who had "wallpapered" their den with jigsaws!

And Polly, your DIL will love these puzzles. I have the ocean waves, fireflies, grandmother's flower garden, barn raising, cactus flower, oregon trail, flying geese. Five are here, two on their way ;))

Here's yet another site for jigsaws (2 per day) plus daily crossword, find-its, and jumble puzzle. - plus lots of other games. It doesn't have those annoying adverts popping up either.

I got several from Hobby Lobby; they still had some in stock when I was there 2 weeks ago.

I have her 2006 calendar-when the year is up I plan on framing and hanging the pictures.

I have 2 quilty jigsaws framed and on my studio wall, but not hers. I really don't have the room for any more that size. Darn it.

Guilty as charged. Even have one that is finished but not framed as of yet....and a few more to do. Not hanging them here, as it is only a 'rental', until we know for sure where we are going to be 'landing'. Butterfly

(Never mind the sentences running together, I'm tired, but I wanted to bring you'all up-to-date)

Bakersfield is at its BEST weather right now--sunny, dry, hot, and LOW humidity every day all summer long. Like I told DH we LEFT at the 'wrong time'. That was the 'best weather' for me.. so I gotta ask.how LONG does this white stuff in the high sky last? Weeks/ months/all summer? Same length of time as Albuquerque/Rio Rancho did? Is this the 'monsoon season yet? I thought you'all were in a drought, am I misinformed?

I haven't had time to really 'read' your paper yet...what with the Mayo Clinic tests/Drs/ etc/ and trying to *help* unpack the basics (ok, so it boils down to 'where do you want this to go', I'm NOT complaining :).I've been quite busy (yes, I AM taking rest periods daily). Told DH on the way home from the Clinic today, "I can't believe we have been here a week already!"

Oh, we DID find a LQS here in Scottsdale: Quilter's Delight. Brought home a handful of w/b and 2 butterfly FQ's. And there is a TSWLTH not too far from where we are right now.

Yes, we are in Scottsdale, at present, as DS found a 'ready to move into right now' place for us, so we took it.

Nuff for now

Fountain Hills isn't that far from us.
