This IS a true story - not a joke!
I received last week a gift card for a popular restaurant chain. I decided that I would take DH out for lunch yesterday so out we went.
We arrived at the restaurant at about noon - just before the church and soccer crowds arrived. We ordered and received our waters and then ordered our meals. DH ordered a Philly Cheese Steak and I ordered Wor Won Ton Soup.
I finished my first water and requested a second, then figured that the food was about to come so I'd better go to the washroom to make it come faster! (It usually works!!!) As I left the table, I thought I saw my dish sitting under the heat lamps, so I was quite sure it would be on the table when I returned.
No luck. DH was sitting facing the kitchen, so I had him keep an eye on it. 5 minutes later, one of the kitchen staff moved it, so I thought they must be making room for DH's and then it would be coming.
No luck. 10 more minutes later - now about 45 minutes after arriving at the restaurant, the dish was moved back to its original location under the heat lamps. I'm getting really ticked now and so is DH as he hasn't even seen his food!
Another 5 minutes passes and the manager comes to refill my water again! It comes back and there's something in the ice - looked like an egg shell! Then the manager returns to the table and says that they will take care of our bill because they messed up our order and they were putting together new ones. I asked her to also take care of my water as I wasn't drinking it! She says their ice machine is on the fritz and they are getting ice from Denny's next door!
We received our meals shortly thereafter and, being so hungry now, ate quite quickly. Being a Chinese dish, I had a fortune cookie for dessert.
The fortune: You shouldn't overspend at the moment. Frugality is important.
