Update about me.. behind and trying to catch up!

Hello! I've not been here much in the last couple of weeks..I have been reading some and just not having time to respond. Here is what I have been up to! I had to make an emergency trip to Indy last week to help my grandparents. Grandma took a bad fall, at the grocery store, and wound up with a sprained wrist, bruises, and a cut lip. She was pretty shook up. That was on Sat. the 7th. on sunday, she fell at home again, and was crawling on the floor to get to the phone, and ended up just laying on the floor and refusing to let my grandpa call anyone. She wasnt hurt, she just couldnt get back up and grandpa cant lift her. He has a heart condition and isnt able to lift much of anything. Grandma only weighs 120 lbs!! . He is also almost deaf so he cant use the phone. He did go to the apartment office and the office gal called my aunt in Florida to tell her what happened. She called my dad, and he called me. I am the closest relative and I am 1 1/2 hours away. So I left work, packed a bag and drove over to Indy. She finally let me call 911 to get her to the hospital to find out why she has been falling down a lot lately. Her vitals were wonderful for a woman of 85 who doesnt take anything but a water pill and vitamins....She is fine, thank God!! I stayed overnight with grandpa until my aunt arrived from Florida to take over. She doesn't fly, so they had to drive all the way here. Now she is in a rehab place to rebuild her strength. We still dont know exactly what happened to her, if anything. They were both so confused as to what happened on what day....We did find out that she had not been eating for two days because she wasnt hungry, and she was dehydrated too. Grandpa isnt able to take care of her, so they are going to be forced to make some changes in the way they live day to day. I wish I was closer to be able to go everyday and check on them. Keep them in your prayers for a solution !

On my way home from Indy, my son called and said he got in a wreck on his way to work..his first wreck! He was shook up but not hurt, just a little sore, so my drive home really stressed me out from worrying about him! The other driver was ticketed. She hit the rear end of a semi and her car went up in the air and landed on top of the right front of his car. She had minor injuries and thank GOD she didnt have a passenger in her car. We are still waiting on the insurance company..He took his car, a 95 Neon, to a body shop for an estimate...over $3000 damage...and it will probably get totaled. Then, on the same day, my cellphone antennae broke!! I had no reception on the way home from Indy, and it was storming badly, and tornado warnings were out...GEEZ... what else could happen? $50 deductible and I got a new phone on Friday. The first of the month week and Easter week was really busy at work, and that is an understatement!! I always get asked if I get sick of decorating cakes, or get bored with it...and usually I say no. but DANG...last week I think I could have said YES! get me out of here! LOL Prom is almost here, Graduation is coming, and my oldest DS is a senior...I still cant believe it..I have so much to do to get ready...including fitting in time to scrap..I want to do a little book for DS, but I dont have high hopes on getting that done. =( Well thanks for letting me ramble! I have missed the chatter and will try to catch up!! ((hugs)) Linda

1st off......Here's a Big ((((((((((((hug)))))))))))))) for you! My goodness. You have had a crazy time. What a relief your son wasn't hurt. It sounds like it could have been a lot worse with the injuries on the wreck. Your sweet grandma and grandpa. They are trying to be so independent. I'm scared to get older. I already feel like I'm falling apart. Your grandma has had a great healthy life it sounds like to be only taking the vitamins up to now. That's great. Heck I'm 34 and I take 4 different pills before I go to bed every night. I'll be thinking of you and your family. I hope your grandmother gets her strength back real soon.

Linda, You do need a break!!! I hope you had wood to knock on. Things have just got to get better for you. Sounds like your grandparents need to get into one of those programs where someone comes by M-F to check on them and help out a little with the housework. Glad your DS was not hurt. When my DS had her wreck in her Neon it was totaled too. I got back last night from an overnight at the St. Louis Zoo with my middle school GS troop. Rained the whole way there, while we were there, and all the way back. We did a night hike through the zoo. in the rain - I was soaked. Brought my winter coat home in a garbage bag. We did have a good time in spite of the rain. The girls loved it and that's what counts. We stopped at the St. Louis CKC on the way back. I got to spend about 2 hours in the vendors fair and $$$. I finally got to see some of the new K & Co GS line and play with a wishblade. I only got to do a couple of make-n-takes due to time, but it was fun just to be able to walk around and see some of the new things I'd heard about. Can't wait for CKC in Nashville. I'm going to be there for two days. Sandy

Oh Linda what a time you have had the past couple of weeks. {{{{{HUGS}}}}}. I'm glad that your son is ok.

It is a hard thing for grandparents to lose their independence. We have been dealing with the same thing with my grandmother for the past couple of years. Hopefully things will get better soon.

Thank you for thinking of me Shannon! Grandma is a tough gal...she will do what she has to, to get back on her feet. My DS Ryan was complaining of a sore shoulder and arm yesterday, so I dont know if it is related to his wreck or not. I will have to see how he is after school today.

Take Care! Linda

Thanks Sandy, I am hoping thing will be looking up SOON! :-) Mt grandparents are going to be getting meals on wheels, and a cleaning person to help them out. My aunt is arranging all of that. Boy, it sure sounds like you had a good time at the CKC in St Louis. I'm jealous! :-) So what did you think of the wishblade? Linda

Thanks Cathy! Yes they are very independent, and are realizing their need for help now. I just wish I lived closer or that they could be closer to my aunt. They have no family in Indy. I have to take DS to doc today. He said he was fine just after the wreck but now is complaining of a sore arm and shoulder. I hope its just muscle aches and pains and nothing else is wrong.! ::keeping fingers crossed:: Linda

Thanks Amy! I do need to be sure and take my vitamins, because usually at this time of year at work is so stressful, that I end up sick around graduation..and I surely dont want to celebrate DS graduation being sick.

I went home drooling.............problem is we are getting ready to install replacement windows in our house and money will be tight for a while. Why oh why did we end up with a house with 31 windows????????

Glad they are getting signed up with some programs. My family volunteered with Meals on Wheels every year in August (they had a hard time filling that month because of the heat). It was a family affair (my DH worked 2nds and I was a SAHM and our older two were around 9 and 10 years). We checked to make sure we saw everyone living in each house we delivered to and they were doing well. They loved for the kids to help deliver just to be able to visit with them for a few minutes. I"m just going to jump in and say... Wow, my absence was long and unexpected. I don't really know if I'm truly back on but I did want to say hi to all my friends on RCS... Dave, I used a bunch of your color strips last week on layouts. Thanks so much!

See ya 'round the crafting table!

I'm glad they're getting help. My family was going through this right after Christmas due to my Grandma falling. I'm glad your son seems to be ok from the wreck. What a week for you! *big hugs* I hope things start getting better soon for you.
