OT -- venom takes a toll

Last Sunday, a man opened fire in a Unitarian church during a children's performance of Annie here in Knoxville, TN. Before being subdued, he killed 2 and wounded 7. Investigators found a letter in which he 'justified' his actions, citing how liberals and Democrats had ruined the country. Reports say that he's an alcholic and most likely, mentally unstable. His anger was fueled, imnsho, by the venom that's been spouted by the religious right and moral majority. It's a sad commentary that in order to feel that all is right with the world, one has to denigrate everyone who marches to a different drummer

How very sad, I can imagine his 'reasons' for picking on the Unitarian church, very unfair.

Apparently the church had just put up a sign saying that gay people were welcome....

I saw this story on TV and felt just the way you do.. As usual, some of the very worst sins are committed in the name of religion.

I wonder if all these do gooders feel good when they read what their ilk have done, basically in their name ? I am not (as probably everyone knows) not a believing person but I have always found Unitarians to have a good, sane take on life.
