Sunday

Well, has everyone slept in???? I am about to leave for church, and nobody has posted about their Sunday. After church, Kandace has rehearsal, followed by swim team. I have a meeting tonight, but nothing this afternoon, so while she is at rehearsal, I will probably sit in a corner and knit for a while.

It is still mild here, but not sunny. However, tomorrow is supposed to be clear and not too cold, which will be good for the little trick-or-treaters.

Hope everybody has a great Sunday!

Yes, as a matter of fact, I did sleep in lol. These new meds I'm on for the perpetual sinus infection (the old store I'm at is being majorly remodeled and running 3 weeks behind schedule) are making me tired. I sleep at least 9 hours a night and some in the afternoons on my days off and I'm still tired. Sigh. Nice weather outside, in the

80s F. Taking a few days off to work on my car, my knee and finish cleaning out the garage. Does anyone want any stuff???? I am within a few rows of the shoulder decreases on this aran sweater! I plan on finishing that this weekend. I'll just have to sew the pieces together and do the crew neck ribbing. Yeahhhhhhh. This has taken me forever. That's all thats new here. Happy stitching. Hi,

I didn't sleep any later then normal, except I didn't set the clocks back last night so they said I did. LOL

It's a lovely warm day here and the same for tomorrow. Feels more like the end of April, then October.

Don't know what I'll work on tonight, maybe another shawl, as I've made two so far and will do one more.

Hugs,

Nora

SUNSHINE ON MY SHOULDERS MAKES ME HAPPY.... (yes, I'm singing again)

It's another glorious day with BLUE SKIES SHININ' ON ME (a few wispy clouds way off in the distance).... and the sun shining brightly, and out of the breeze it is a nice temperature to be outside without a jacket (wearing a sweatshirt though, not short sleeves). The breeze is a *little* cool, but it *is* the end of October, afterall.

I found a bit of energy this morning, so I swept through the house (main floor only), put my few dishes from yesterday in to soak, and (this one is naughty for my health, but I wanted it done NOW, and I'm impatient so I couldn't wait two weeks for Matthew to come home) I folded up the long table we had on our back deck and brought it (slid it most of the way) into the kitchen and set it up. Actually setting it up was the hardest part as it kept sliding on me... I finally had to lean one end of it against the stove for leverage and stand at the other end to turn it by using it's legs. Now I am tired and my lower back is hurting.... I know, I know.... I brought it on myself, but I *really* hate not being able to do these things that I could always do with no problems at all. It is really difficult to go from being the strongest one (after my brother) to having to have someone else do things for me.

Anyway, I will rest a while and read the newsgroups and email, then do my few little dishes and see how I'm feeling standing at the sink for that length of time, before I decide whether or not I feel up to taking a short walk out the path where the railway tracks used to be again today. If not... then I'll just rest more! :o)

Hi Gem,

Don't overdue it now especially when you are by yourself. I know it's hard not being able to do everything, BUT, you have to learn to slow down and smell the roses.

Good morning Katherine, I would think by sheer location that you will be the first one up on this continent. You must be now in the middle of the day or even in the afternoon. With the hour change everything is a bit upside down. We had forgotten to change the time yesterday evening and wandered around the house to fix it all. Otto will sit down and listen to the CBC Sunday morning with Micheal Enright and I flee to my domain upstairs. We get the news chewed over so much all during the week, that on Sunday morning,I am ready for something else...LOL It is still mild here as well, but that is the norm. It is wet and rainy day, however that is great, after such a long dry spell. Our forest trees have sufferd badly. The Arbutus trees, look so sad with so much dead wood in them. We had to have one cut over, last week. We take the weather as it comes, but then we do talk about it a lot.....LOL I am going to spin up some odds and ends that are left over from demonstrations, and do some weaving today. Nice and relaxed.

Happy Halloween everyone

Nora... I *totally * forgot about the time change. I'll have to do that in a few minutes before I forget again! Good thing you mentioned it! :o)

Yes ma'am, I promise! :o) That really was the heaviest thing that I needed/wanted done anyway... so I'm finished playing Superwoman now. Anything else is just looking through boxes and bags that are already on the main floor... and I'm not planning on doing any of that at all today... I have two weeks alone to do that stuff.

Speaking of being alone... when I was talking to Matthew on the phone yesterday he told me that he and Kyle (his best friend) have been thinking about getting a place together in the nearby city... *after* we get caught up on bills and mortgage, and *after* I am finally approved for Disability and can afford to keep up most of the expenses. He said that he would continue to give me some money toward some things to make sure I wouldn't get overloaded like this again. It upset me to hear him talking about it, but after getting off the phone and thinking about it a bit... I guess I can manage alone, as long as he comes home once in a while to help with the yardwork, and any other heavier things. Besides, it's not like he'd be living in another country... it's only 30 miles away. It would be best if they could do what Matthew had said before.... get a place here in town, that way he could come by to check on me more often

Haven't done much today. Recoving from a virus and fever, I am just being a couch potato today, watching cooking shows. I had planned to go outside and work in the gardens (beautiful day today), but instead I have offered DD some incentive (extra allowance) to do it for me and she took me up on it!!

We will carve the pumpkins up later and the guys have a hockey game. DH did the clocks for me yesterday and I am so thankful for the extra hour.

Gem, Just a comment about hardly eating and losing weight: it doesn't work that way.

Apparently our bodies, marvels of invention that they are, go into starvation mode when we eat a very small amount, and try to save as much as possible. Sounds strange, but I've read that in many places and I really feel there is something to it.

We've sort of been trying to get into "proper eating mode," both to lose weight and to try to level out the other half's blood sugars out so he has fewer sugar highs and lows. He's the cook, and he also is stubborn as anything when he gets an attitude, so it's rather interesting. The last two days, however, he's been on a kick to cook a regular evening meal and he's been making comments like he "should do this more often," etc. I'm trying to convince my stomach that a couple of pieces of bread or toast within an hour of waking up won't kill me, then try and eat something real for lunch.

If you enjoy cooking, maybe one day a week to make up and freeze stuff ahead of time, in individual servings, so you don't have to cook a whole meal for one person, rather several meals for one person.

Long and short of it: eat breakfast, nice lunch and a light supper. Maybe we can trick our bodies into burning some of the weight we want to lose.

Take it easy with the lifting(she said as she rubbed her sore back....) ;-))

Oh I know, Carey.... I had heard that before too about needing to eat for our bodies to have something to burn, etc. Unfortunately I'm really not a big eater. However, having said that... I have had a banana to eat twice this week about two hours after getting up, which I don't normally do. And tonight for supper I had grilled cheese sandwich.

What I *really* have to remember to do is drink more fluids as I have a tendancy to become dehydrated... and when that happens it can sometimes get bad enough that it makes me extremely sick and I end up in the hospital.

Thank you for the backrub by the way (if that was intended for me).... I really could use it tonight. I only felt it a little shortly after moving that table, but about two hours ago it really hit HARD. Matthew phoned me tonight and I told him what I had done... I was told off about it. *sigh* He said "That bloody table is heavy enough for ME to move. You definitely shouldn't have touched it." So I have been told that I should rest for the next few days to make sure that I'm okay.
