I chuckled at our Prime Minister - he said "It`s not often, in this job, that you get the chance to punch the air and do a jig!" He hadn`t dared watch the news on the vote, and only knew when No. Ten phoned his mobile!

I still feel a little sorry for Chirac. Just a little. Things aren't going at all well for him. And yet it takes some nerve to denigrate other countries' food as he did, from a nation which eats frogs & considers itself gastronomically superior. Just a thought :-) JJ
I have laughed at some of our "talking heads"who say "how nice, the Brits deserve it after WW2".
WE, you, Pat, me and probably Sheena remember the Olympics of 1948. I lived in Uxbridge, and our swimming pool was used for training,and some of the events,(water polo I remember) it was definitely NOT the circus it is now. And the athletes stayed around our area. As a small kid (
10ish) and we saw anyone different in town, we rushed up with autograph albums. I think Wembley was where the games were held, but only at the end of WW@,every neighborhood pitched inIt was safe, and we were not molested.That was a good and safe life!!
