Works for me!

Sara, actual Hawkeye (and Mets fan)

Would you like to visit Washington, D.C.? There's a city that could stand a little bit of map wiping.

Don`t be stuffy, Lucille - if she`d said it about Felixstowe, for instance, I`d have laughed my head off! As we all did about our poet Laureate`s famous (to us) line during the war (I believe) "Come, friendly bombs, and drop on Slough!" Most of us knew people who lived in that centre of mediocrity, too!

Better yet, go to the Vikings stadium....their record and the recent ploy they've pulled should make them a prime candidate for obliteration!!!!!

Joan, long-suffering Viking fan

K,

Now I can tell my hubby that last week's loss in the last 10 seconds was not my fault. :) I so miss going to games in Happy Valley. But last week after both Penn State and the Steelers lost in a few seconds and I was watching both games, my viewing privileges have been taken away! Now I can say it was all K's fault not mine.

I hope you get your vacation to Cancun next month K. I hope Wilma gets lost on the way to any landfall and just blows out at sea.

I have a friend who barely made it out of New Orleans alive after being trapped for days and losing most of what he owned.

He thought it was freaking hilarious.

K, who is definitely not invited for a visit while he's living in Baton Rouge

Hey, only if you give me time to get off the Island first too! I admit it is far from my first choice of where to live, but I do have a job I like here! Heather WIP: Noah's Sub, Approaching 80% done! Dracolair's The Phoenix... bad me!

Well, I guess you're right about that!!! What a sad state of affairs. :((( I wonder just how long they'll last.....

Joan

Thus K , your friend is allowed to joke about himself or his plight , but others who din`t go through this should not joke about such things, My friend doesn`t think it is hilarious at all . mirjam

I just had this discussion with DD about an hour ago. She's in a high school play, and the father of one of the cast members died about 2-3 weeks ago. He had a heart attack (in front of the kids; they called the ambulance) and he passed away that night.

DD said her friend is making some jokes about it and it makes her uncomfortable, because she's unsure how to react. I assured her it's normal to cope with crisis through laughter...and it sounds like that's what the boy is doing. And we said, "It's OK for *him* to say that, but certainly nobody else!" There's a line.

We'll be sure to warn you! ROFL

My folks won't leave because they like their vet too much! lol

As a lifelong resident of MN, I think this IS funny! Are you *sure* you know the full background story and context of the joke, Mirjam?

K and Anne , i don`t know enough about your lives , but Alas i know many [ too many ] people who had awful experiences through their life, and unles you [God forbid] went through any of their experience , you are in no position to make jokes about Other people plights. Nore wish that it will happen to other people .... Hasn`t the twin towers taught any of you any thing? , haven`t the horrid sights of flooded New orleans showed you that one should not wish such a traumatic experience??? After a Bad event many of you moan and pray , and talk about the plight of those victims., But i really ask you ? how could it be funny to wish such a horrid thing on any human , on any animal ?

The world is full with people and animals suffering from Natural Disasters ....and many try to help, joking about it , doesn`t help , it is degrading , and thoughtless, and even cruel,,, there yiu are all sipping your wines and licking your chocolades , and wishing others to suffer ???? Just unbelieveable . mirjam

Actually it doesn't take any life-threatening tragedy like this to disable professional sports teams. A union strike or cutting off the supply of money would be effective. No physical injury required. College teams could be disabled from NCAA sanctions, players breaking rules or not making grades, or schools cutting athletic programs to save money. Once again, no one has to physically get hurt.

Lighten up or I shall fl> K and Anne , i don`t know enough about your lives , but Alas i know
