hurricane wilma inbound - 5am monday

Oct 24, 2005 4 Replies

five am here and i got up because i couldn't sleep... the wind's getting whippy already! I was writing and the power flicked off and on so the puter reset... think it's time to make a quick post just in case we lose power soon. i've been filtering water - you can never have too many bottles stored! at this point i'm taking it as a given that we'll lose power today. i would have said this afternoon but it could be any time... the palm trees are blowing around and making lots of noise, and Scouty's playing with her golf ball behind me.

I went to bed at 11.30 so I've had approximately four and a half hours sleep so far, but I was watching the news and decided that it was more important to get the final preperations done... besides, the wind's keeping me awake! i can sleep when the power's off and there's nothing to do :P

My prayers for everyone in South Florida today...

And if you haven't seen them yet I've been taking pictures - there's a special gallery in my webshots for the hurricane. The lake and roads around us flooded on Saturday morning - apparently we live in a small floodplain! No damage here because we're upstairs, but lots of photos...

I'm getting sleepy again now so I'm heading back to bed. Take care everyone, and I'll see you again on the flip side.

I'll be thinking about you today Karen as well as the rest of Florida RCSers and residents. Sandy

Karen,

Take care of you and your family. If your gut instinct says "get out of here, leave leave leave" drive like a catagory 5 wind. That is your guardian angel warning you.

Be safe.

Kate

Godspeed to all of you in Florida!!

Carolyne in TX

I've heard some news reports on CNN that there are a lot of power failures in Florida. Hope everyone is still safe over there! Keeping ya all in my thoughts and prayers.

Judy, SA
