OK I found the link, though her site is not operational at this time, just showing various pieces.

of us from our group did a course with her about a year ago,the wave was her idea. The others did another gold work one since,but I skipped that as I didn't care for it. Apart from anythingelse, I don't have any wall space left so have to be picky. She lives about an hour from here, is very innovative and pushes allthe known wisdoms. Currently she is teaching goldwork with the silkstretched tight and no calico behind it. I would be scared the silkwould give, but I guess not.

Surprisingly once the base is all set up, sort of the grunt work, then the actual gold work goes fairly swiftly.

LOL about the wall space. We have plenty - but much of it is very high, and while waiting on builders finishing some work the living room (which is for us a sitting room and not huge) is full of artwaork - rows of it like files from the wall. Trying to figure out where to put what. At least most of the needlework is small comparatively and I know has to go lowish - no sense hanging it at the upper reaches of the 20' walls - except for anything really bad....

Wow, that's interesting. I guess if it's good enough weight silk that would work. But, I see your point. Nice that there's someone with an interesting technique close enough to get a course from.
