Richmond is about 3 hours southeast of this location. I have a splendid sibling who lives there and I visit her often. If you look at a map of Virginia and locate the junction of I81 and I64, that is appoximately where I would like this new shop to be located. Richmond wouldn't be a bad place for it either. A new EGA chapter has just been formed there and EGA's 2006 seminar is being held there, too. Is anyone here going besides me?
Now, now, you two stop fighting! The only *fair* thing for Elizabeth/LizardGumbo to do is to move it to a central location. Like North Dakota, which *is*, after all, the center of the North American continent (and there's an obelisk in Rugby to prove it!). And since Fargo already has NN, Grand Forks would be *the* perfect location! And I'm trustworthy and more than willing to do the "self-empowered job security" thing!
Nu-uh! For once it's in MY part of the world! And if, by the time she get this place up and running, I haven't jumped ship and moved to England (MY long-time goal), I fully intend to offer my services in any way she'll use me for free. Or maybe just for Stash... LOL
Ahhh. My daughter has moved last year near Richmond and I went to visit this past January. Such a beautiful location and lovely State Capitol. But it *does* get awfully hot in the summer. However, I enjoyed the sweater weather in January!
I wanted to go in the worst way, but since it was necessary to go in January, there went my bank account.
This morning I had my long awaited op on my right knee. All went well and I am home again. It is normally day surgery, so I am home again. Not much pain in the knee but my fibro is bad at the moment. Glad this is over, but it remains to be seen how well it works. Marie in OZ
I had my left knee "scoped" back in 1993. I'd had condromalasia (sp?) since the 70's when I messed up my kneecap as a teen. I have loose ligaments, so the kneecap tends to pop in and out of place, and apparently one of those pops tore cartilage.
I had the operation on a Wednesday morning and by the weekend I was ready to pitch the crutches and by the following Wednesday it was like I never had a knee problem!
Then quit avoiding it. My mom had her hip replaced and said she wished she had done it much sooner. My dad has not had as much success with his knee, but at 86, he doesn't have the muscle tone to really have healed as well as he could have had he done it earlier.
I've had one doctor say do it now, two others advised waiting as the pain is not constant and I am not favoring the weaker side. According to both of them, I would likely need to do it a second time 15-20 years in the future. I've been really good for a long time now. Only few bad days a year; the exercises really help me and since I am terrified of being unconscious....I'll wait.
Well a caution there - knees are more tricky things, have to make more complex movements and they do not last as well as hips. I have needed help since my forties and have an excellent surgeon who has scoped it twice and kept me going. Someone Cheryl's age should really try everything else first lol
I do have a friend in her 50s who has had to have both replaced but she herself said she realizes she will face it all again by the time she is 70, not an enviable thought, but then she had reached the end of the line and could only hobble with great difficulty.
Exactly what Barb told me when she had her knees replaced. Unfortunately, with everything going on in my life just then, I didn't have time for the downtime. And now that I have the downtime, I don't have the money (my current insurance covers darn near nothing, so I'd have to ante up most of the $25,000 per knee myself).
Delighted it worked so well. Now please send the good thoughts for my dh who has to have his pacemaker replaced tomorrow. He had been feeling decidely less than perky, his present pacemaker was implanted ten years ago with a seven-year guarantee, so he went off to the cardio who has been checking it every three months. Result? "Uh, oh! It's time!" They couldn't do it immediately, as he had to go off the blood thinners for three days first, so I have been watching him like a hawk since Monday a.m. We go to the hospital at 6 a.m. tomorrow, and they say I will be bringing him home again by noon. Normally, they might have kept him overnight for monitoring, but since the storm there is still only one major hospital open in New Orleans (fortunately, it is the one we have been going to for years) and there is a desperate shortage of beds.
With Heaven-Lee Creations (formerly Blended Needle), it's a matter of their business practices--or lack thereof. With Silkweavers, it was a snotty response to an email I sent inquiring about custom dyeing (I only wanted it a shade or two or three lighter, and I needed a big piece, since it would have been for "St Petersburg").
