OT- Undead Betsy book

Cheryl, Just wanted to let you know "Undead and Unpopular" is just as good as the previous books, and you don't have to have read the short story I mentioned before to follow it. And as I predicted, I took it to work with me Friday night and finished it before I went to bed Saturday. I do wish they were longer....

And as I predicted, I took it to work

LOL - I just read my first one last Friday - took me about 4 hours. Have another one waiting!

It's why, as much as I love them, I refuse to pay for the hardcovers!

Ok - I just might grab it. I'm also quite tempted by "Even Vampires get the Blues" (Katie MacAllister).

I'm on the one before it, but oldest dd got me Vamps get the Blues for my birthday. I like MacAllister's Dragon's Mate ones best.

Oh - the Aisling Gray stories? I've never quite decided how much I like those.

Vamps is good, too. I love the fact that MacAllister, Davidson and to a lesser degree, Kenyon make me laugh, while giving a good paranormal story/romance.If you like those authors (and I know you do), if you haven't run across her yet, look for Nina Bangs. Her characters give some laugh out loud moments along with a good story.

But you know me, I can't wait once I've seen it's out there! If I never see the hardback, I'm fine with it, but once I know there's a book out there that is either part of a series or an author I love, I can't wait for the paperback. I wanna know what new thing Betsy (either one, but the Undead variety more) is getting herself into!

And btw, how is everything with you? Do me a favor, will ya? Keep your fingers crossed that there's nothing seriously wrong with Chen besides old age, will ya? We're going to the Vet Monday to see what we can see. She's never been a very large cat, but she's lost a lot of weight over the last few months and I'm afraid I'm looking at the beginning of the end.... Tegan

I've heard from someone else that Nina Bangs is really worth reading. Bobbie V. lent me Fantasy Lover. That was pretty funny!

We took our cat, Fred, into the vet with the same concern a while back. She wasn't eating as much and seemed to be losing weight. She actually weighed the same, but the vet said like most older people, older animals lose muscle mass as they age, so in reality she weighed the same, just was looking much thinner than usual. She's somewhere between 13-14 years old. Hoping it's the same with Chen and nothing more serious.....

Carolyn could well be right, Bucket was 16 on May 21 and friends say he looks more 'rangy' perhaps a polite word for 'mangy' and he really has slowed down quite a bit in the last year. He spends most of his time sleeping, though I have discovered why he likes to sleep near my bedroom window.

The windows here go from ceiling to floor and I look out into the tree canopy. My bedroom window is right by the branches where the squirrel runs along, leaps to the concrete of the building and runs up within inches of my window, to the person who is feeding him on a floor above me. It has become his television I think lol

No harm in a checkup though Tegan if you are worried. Let us know how you get on.

Chen is right at 17 and a half, so I know we're not far from "that time". She seems to be doing a bit better as far as eating goes, but she's just so darned thin. At her heaviest, I don't think she's ever weighed more than 8 pounds, but when she perches on my hip (what is it about cats and hips?) when we go to bed, I almost can't even feel her. Shame on me, I've probably put this off longer than I should have because she just doesn't travel well. She doesn't get sick, but she screams the entire way! She seems to want the entire world to know she's being abused! I've just been putting this trauma (for BOTH of us) as long as possible. Ah well, whatever happens will happen. I'm just afraid this one is going to be just as hard as losing Vick was!

But I will keep Fred in mind and think optimistically! Tegan

Not Vamp or other creatures of the night books, but Nancy Martin's Blackbird Sisters mysteries are good fun. Fun sense of humor, good writing and a mystery that keeps you guessing.

It's written from one of the sister's point of view, so you as the reader aren't privy to any clues the heroine isn't. Unlike the mysteries of Agatha christy! lol

Anne George wrote some "sister" mysteries that are a delight to read.

I agree -- I was so sad. And the books stopped at such an inopportune time in the story line. I suppose it was an inopportune time in George's life line as well....

Oh, Honey, not the kind of ghosts you are thinking about! Another world, psi-energy, very much a science fiction/romance type thing. I read the first one, and I'm sorry to say the name escapes me at the moment, about a year ago, so I knew getting my monkey mind to remember some of the details of the world she created was going to be a challenge. Jayne Castle is Judith Krentz. Which begs the question (at least to me): How do writers choose alternate names? I know how Nora Roberts got JD Robb, as she's explained, but I do wonder about some of the others. Tegan
