Done!

I have 168 fabric "treasure boxes" finished! If more are needed.....tough luck!!! :-) Maybe. Now...time to get outside and enjoy the beautiful summer I have heard we've had. I need to see if it's only a rumor.

A huge well done, Kathyl! What a marathon. Well done you. They had better be commensurately grateful, or else >g< ... ...

Pity you weren't doing all that indoor work over here - you wouldn't have missed a thing, except at least 50% of annual rainfall in one month!

There will be other good summers. . In message , KJ writes

Yup....plenty of things. I just went outside to do a fun job....pressure washing my deck and porch chairs....(I like playing in the water) only to find out my washer needs a new spray gun! Rats! Who knew you aren't supposed to store those in a garage that freezes?? Everybody but me?? I just ordered a new gun....I bet I could have gotten a whole new washer unit for not a whole lot more...and I'd have it this afternoon! But I'll be environmentally conscious and try to wait the 7-14 DAYS it will take to arrive! Sheesh. Hummmm....maybe my newlyweds would want a used pressure washer????? And I could get a new one?? Nah....time to be frugal...grumble grumble. I was so looking forward to getting the muck off my patio deck....and siding.

I'm glad to have this wedding project off the check list. The wedding is in December! Woohoo! I'm early!!

Good for you, Kathyl! That's *got* to be a relief. I'm sure the bride and groom will be amazed at what you've done and how lovely the boxes are. :)

You have my deep respect for that Kathyl I made just 20 and that was enough!

Good for you Estelle! Do you have pictures? I'm glad I started early and wasn't under any looming deadline. I thought I wanted these done by the end of July...but the end of August will do just fine. I know DD is very excited about them, so I don't feel my efforts will be ignored.

Glory, glory, hallelujah! Congratulations, Kathyl. And on another note, yes indeed you just must go ahead and buy yourself a new power washer. Newlyweds (and others) are famous for borrowing and needing just about everything you might have that they can carry off. When we're making out a Christmas gift list, DH checks his tools and toys to see what's never coming home and 'gives' himself a new one. Such is life. Polly

Wow Kathyl - that was quite a task. I remember when you first alerted us to that pattern, and how I fell in love with them. But..... 168?!?! I think not.......... Now, pour yourself a nice, tall glass of sweetened iced tea, and prop your feet up, and read a magazine that's been neglected!

You have a very wise DH. I have already experienced the "borrowing". I have to go retrieve it myself if I want it back. And sometimes it's not in the same condition that it was when it left my house. I'm thinking of a banquet table that even though it had a plastic top, was left out in the elements and the metal braces on the bottom are now rusty. GRRRRR. It had been an indoor table previously.

Oh dear God! I made three of them for my sister for her birthday last year and put sentimental goodies inside them. But only three and I was about crazy after only that many. Not 168! And Bert thinks sometimes that I am insane with the projects that I take on. Kudos to you but I could never have done that.

LOL! 169...I found another finished one! heehehe. Well, you might consider doing it if one of your children thinks it would be really cool for a wedding and in a weak moment you also think it's cool that they think it's cool. Once you get the mass production aspects down, the hardest part is stopping to refill the bobbin! That and trying to keep my third spool of metallic thread from twisting up into knots. The first two spools behaved quite nicely.

Now I'm considering embroidering on canvas shopping bags for the other child to give as bridal party gifts ....... to put gifts IN for the bridal party. That wouldn't be nearly as many!! And it would fit the bride's ecological interests as she is a Peace Corps alumnus.

Nope. None of THAT until you assure us that you have something to wear. There's probably at least one shower you'll be expected to attend, a rehearsal 'to-do' and the wedding. No matter how beautiful it is, you can Not appear tastefully swathed in a bolt of batik. Don't make us come down there. Polly

I only have one picture in my handbags folder! I was trying to find some more of the fabric I used. No luck, but it did make the making of them simple with no fm ing on them.

I think I may go to a tanning parlor, get my hair cornrowed and then buy one of those beautiful African caftans to wear. If I didn't do the first two...I might be considered a "poser". Now don't anyone get all weird on me....I think those African dresses are gorgeous! That's my point. My other point is that I can't rightfully wear one of them! And, Polly, I think you saw right through me......I'm putting off the painful part of this process, aren't I???

Cute cute cute! I haven't done any FMing on any of mine either...except the first prototype. I wanted to get them all in a finished state, then see if I have any time or inclination to go back and add a little more. The jury is still out on that.
