Help finding fabric

Nov 01, 2007 30 Replies

Hi people

Remember me? Well it's John from Australia, and I'm trying to locate some fabric that I found last weekend while we were visiting a town on the coast, in NSW.

(There's a few quilts I've made over recent years on there too!)

If you happen to have seen it at your LQS or online, can you send me a quick email with the LQS details please? I need SEVEN yards, I think. I'll have to check that again, but I'm pretty sure that was right. I want to do a Stack n Whack with it, and it's quite a large repeat.

Anyway, to all those who know me, I do hope you're well.

TIA

Hi John,

Sorry I can't help with the fabric, but it is good to "see" you again.

Lovely quilts - I do like the Chantilly one.

Hey John

I've looked and looked for this fabric but can't find it for you. Maybe someone else will have better luck than I.

I took a look at the fabric you have and it is beautiful. It's to beautiful to cut up. If I owned it I would use it as a cheater cloth and just quilt it as is. I can also see some trupunto in it.

I wish you luck in your search.

Hi, John! I don't think I've ever seen it, but I sure wouldn't mind having seven yards of that glorious stuff myself. I can't wait to see this quilt you want to make, I hope you find the fabric!

Lovely to see you John. Have you still got the beaded needle case. I made my first quilt this year. Do you ever hear from Connie? Sorry I cannot help with the fabric Hugs Shirley

So good to see you John! That fabric will make a great S&W -haven't seen it but wish I had some. I could only see the 3 fabric photos -no quilts. Glad to hear you're still quilting! Roberta in D

Woo Hoo, John! So good to "see" you here. I was just at my not-so-local LQS for thread and SM needles. Of course, I had a peek or two around the store whilst there. I didn't see anything resembling this stunning fabric. I will keep my eyes open for you, though.

Lovely fabric.

Two ideas.

Call Spotlight and see if they can order more for you. Or if they can find more at another store and ship it to you.

Since it's for a stack and whack.....are you using the book? The book person has you split the fabric on the fold and use one side. There honestly isn't any reason why the second side cannot also be used as a second "stack". She insists "no" but I've done it successfully and seen many others do it as well. If you use all your fabric you might have enough.

John, I tried to google the company and only came up with a bedding outfitter, no patterned fabric at all. Sorry. amy\ P.S. Good to "see" you again!

John, I'm pretty sure that was part of last year's Robert Kaufman Florentine collection -- I got some of a different colorway, and it's simmering under the bed right now. Peggy Toole was the designer.

Florentine II is out this year:

ps: try searching for "Florentine" here -- I think the fabric you pictured was actually called "florentine mosaic", but don't bet the farm on it.

John I did a search on google and came up with a fat quarter on ebay in OZ. It is listed as Grand Majesty by Fabric innovations but it is not like the one you have.

Ebay number 130154783070

eBay has a 1 yard cut similar (blue colorway) right now ... item #

150157919742(listed as Italian Vintage Florentine Kaufman Fabric).

John, you could always try seeing if the seller has any others ...

Best of luck!!

The fabric you're looking for is at

- they have Jewel, Amethyst andIndigo.

And Kay's absolutely right - it is part of the Florentine Collection by Kaufman ... the colorway is named "Jewel" and the product number is APTM-5086-1.

Again, Kay was right - it is called the "Mosaic!" Yay, Kay!! :)

Hope this helps!! :)

Connie :)

You guys are something else.... WHo would have thought a fabric pattern could be identified, and a source found from just a picture?? That's just amazing...!

I totally agree! I'm SEW impressed that Kay was able to remember the exact name, designer, and fabric company!! I can barely remember where I hide my stash! :)

Kudos, Kay!!

Don't suppose you'd come help me keep track of my stash, would you? Your powers of recollection are AMAZING!! :)
