I needed to send some sort of little appreciation gift to a SIL who had single-handedly produced a family reunion. It was impossible to think of anything she didn't already have dozens of. However . . . One of the family had sent me reunion pictures. I took some of the pictures, transferred to fabric and made dear SIL really great potholders. Probably the potholders won't survive gooey sweet potato extravaganza through constant washing. No matter. She can enjoy them for the holidays and she will know that we appreciate her. I tried Leslie's idea of lining them with old towel. That works just great. Only one layer instead of two of the terry but the old towel I used was extremely thick. I managed to quilt the backing ( a huge and gorgeous poinsettia) to the terry without catching the terry at the seam lines. The pictures are sashed so the potholders are a reasonable size; 7½" seems good to me. If you need to make a little gift, think about trying this one. I know this is too long - but there's one I've got to tell you about. Uncle Herman has his fingers steepled together and he is staring at them with a puzzled frown on his face. I captioned it, "Aunt Ethel says the SuperGlue will wear off in two weeks". That's going to make her smile. Polly
