Re: I'm making a quilt???

Well, a wallhanging. I have a friend who quilts, and on our 4 woman irregular getaways to Moose Jaw she loves to browse the quilt shops. Last time one of the others broke down and bought a kit. But I know myself--I cannot cut 72 of piece B from fabric 6.

But they got me eventually. I bought the neatest little kit for an appliqued and quilted little wall hanging of 3 turtles swimming. all the fabrics are batiky, in greens, blues, golds and purples. And I started today. I cut and bonded the turtle bits to the backing fabric, after deciding to use the wrong side of that rather than the right side, as it was more watery. Now comes the fun bit--embroidering round the shells with blanket stitch, I will probably add some other embroidered details too. Then I will have to deal with the dreaded sewing machine, so be prepared for demands for handholding and serious cursing.

Neither can I. Borrrrring.

So, I acquired, at a yard sale, pre-cut Dresden Plate pieces. And 20 years later, with only 3 plates assembled, sent the whole kit&kaboodle to a friend who quilts.

Never fear. I will be on the next plane with a case of good California wine and a few pounds of good California cheese. The louder you curse, the faster I pour.

Will Canada allow such things?

Well, not the cheese, but you can probably sneak the wine in. Can I come, too? I'll bring Prince Edward County cheese and wine. (I can just see the quilt now :))
