Oh how I envy you that trip. The transportation system in NY is such that you never, ever have to walk a lot. There are buses on almost every corner in mid=town Manhattan and tons of Museums and Theaters and things to see. If you're going to be in mid-town, you would probably enjoy the Folk Art Museum on 53rd (it's been a long time so maybe it's 54th) that has lots of old needlework objects, with a ton of antique quilts. Right near there is the Museum of Modern Art, two blocks away is Carnegie Hall and on and on and on. Best things is to ask the concierge in the hotel what's within a reasonable distance and then just do whatever. Between the shops and the sights 6 hours would pass like a second. Do you think they call it a "New York Minute" for nothing !!! lol

As far as your luggage is concerned, you could ask to leave it at the hotel and pick it up on your way home. Most of the hotels will gladly lock it up for you and all that's required on pick up is a tip. As far as resting for

30 minutes at a time, there's nearly no neighborhood that doesn't have a coffee shop, or a small cafe where you could sit and relax for a while. Or, one of the fun things to do is just find a place to sit in the street and watch the New York "characters" pass by.

As you can tell, I think it's a fabulous city and I wish I could move back there.
