Re: WAY OT - gift shopping angst

My daughter will turn 8 in December. While she will do stamped cross stitch for short periods of time she has not yet completed anything. She really does go for the fluff crafts.

I mean stuff like felt and pom-poms, boon doggle, friendship bracelets made from strands of floss, and book marks, door hangers and other such from foam. Don't forget the glitter glue.

Come to think of it. Scrap booking is a really good idea!

Crafty stuff can be good. Best of all is something that can be used up. That works around the "too much stuff in not enough space" issue. Does she like perfumed stuff? Put together a basket of bubble bath/lotion/powder type things. She can use up the smelly stuff and then use the basket for storage. What about something for her room, like a new lamp or something? You could even get a plain lamp and have her decorate it.

I had one of those - they are great things. I wonder what they make the loops from!

Mom told me they were the off-cuts from tights/stockings. I have no idea if she's correct.
