I know you need like 40 marshmallows, but how much butter and cereal? Thanks, Carol In WI

For extra yummy treats, add a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the mix!

I just happen to have the rice krispies box in front of me because I bought it yesterday for the very same thing. :) The recipe in the box says....INGREDIENTS: 1/4 cup margerine or butter, 40 regular marshmallows,

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, 6 cups rice krispies cereal. DIRECTIONS: 1. In large saucepan over low heat, melt margerine. Add marshmallows. Stir until melted and well blended. Remove from heat. 2. Stir in vanilla. Add cereal, stirring until coated. 3. Using lightly buttered spatula, press into buttered 13" X 9" pan. Cool and cut into squares.

The think I remember best was to make sure the spatula (I used a fork to press rice down, because the spatula was too soft.) is very well buttered 'cause those melted marshmallows stick like glue to everything the touch.

Sometimes after the Krispies treats cool, I butter my hands and shape a square into a nice round ball shape becaue I like something "extra" crunchy and somewhat hard, and different. Barbara in SC

Variation on a theme:

Mars Bar Rice Krispy Cakes

6 Mars Bars 6oz butter 6oz Rice Krispies

Melt the Mars Bars with the butter. Stir in the Rice Krispies. Spread in a ??? inch buttered pan (I'm pretty sure I used my 8" square pan). Cool, cut up and scoff.

Simple as that - and oh, so tasty!

Am I correct in my belief that the Mars bars you are talking about do NOT contain almonds? There is no longer a "Mars" bar in the US. That which was "Mars" is now called "Snickers Almond". I think the product called "Mars" in the UK is called "Milky Way" here. In any case, this sounds yummy!

You can also simply make Rice Krispie treats and pour melted milk chocolate chips (and/or other flavored chips) over the t> Variation on a theme:

It gets very confusing with the different names. Definitely no almonds. Milky Way bars here are just the fluffy nougat-y bit without the caramel layer and the chocolate isn't as thick as on Mars bars. I'm sure they'd work just fine, though - but maybe you'd better make several trial batches just to be sure!
