Rotations

It's very rare that I have more than one thing going at a time. I'm a monogamous stitcher -- I have to finish whatever I've started.

Add on to your question: What do you do when? (time of day, time of year, etc.)

my answer: Occassionally I'll be working on purse, doll, or pillow projects. I try to do the machine stitching in the morning and the fun stuff (embellishments, etc.) in the afternoon or evening. I like doing complicated, large projects in the winter. Even though I live in Tennessee which has mild winters, I hate going out in the cold and dark.

I'm a straight cross stitcher (with occasional other stitches thrown in), so that's what I do whenever I stitch. I usually end up stitching in the evenings, simply because I have other things that I feel ought to be done first. It's hard for me to give myself "permission" to stitch, especially coming from parents that just don't stop till they collapse and then they just turn the tv on. No real hobbies for them. Now that it's coming up on Christmas, I want to stitch some ornaments or something, but I don't have the time to get out to get the supplies (nor the budget, since that's going to gifts this time of year). *wry*

I spend a week on each type of project, e.g. beading, knitting, embroidery, which usually ends up being a single project in that medium. By the end of the week I'm ready for something new and switch. I try to pick a project which has to be done soon or something I haven't worked on for a while. Usually I want to work on it, but even if I pick it up thinking "oh yuck this again", I'm into working on it by the end of the first session and it seems fresh again.

Xmas season, as usual, has made my production schedule all loopy. I got myself buried into a beading project that just won't go away - such a mess and not something that stores well either. Meanwhile another Christmas approaches and I still haven't finished 'finishing' my holly picture, although I could probably do it in a week if I sat down for an hour every night to work on it. So I'm thinking that is what the universe is telling me to do. Dora

I don't think I have any formal stitching rotation. I just seem to do whatever is next in my head

I just finished the Lily Sampler and I'm just waiting for a chance to bring it to the framer and now I'm nearly done with a little Dolly Mama, that I started a while back. It was supposed to be a thank you gift, but that was a long, long time ago, so now it's a combination birthday/holiday/thank you/whatever gift for the same friend.

My to do list grows faster than my rotation can handle. If I'm knitting, I get requests for a half dozen other things. If I'm stitching, the same thing happens, only with different people. I purchased some fiber at the spinners guild craft sale a few weeks ago. Now everybody just looks at the alpaca rovings in the basket next to my spinning wheel and say hmmmm.....? And that ends that! lol
