Watch who you are calling young! Yesterday I discovered I'm old enough to the mother of 3 of 4 of DS's teachers.

I bought a couple packages of new underwear last year, and after one washing/wearing, several pairs had holes already. Some, the knit fabric had developed runs and others, part of a seam came apart where the fabric had just barely been caught by the stitching.

Sadly, sometimes it just the whim or stupidity of the checker. A pair of clippers in my DH's carry on were taken on the third leg of a trip. TSA had declared nail clippers legal, ditto blunt scissors, crochet hooks and knitting needles. But sometimes, some checker will decided that you have to give them up before boarding. Cheryl

Precisely. You are missing the point though, Mirjam only made her post in order to call me a liar, hence the 'Urban Legend' bit.

Thank you Mirjam, I know my husband would appreciate your comments. The screeners work very hard, and are not particularly well paid, but they do have to be extremely attentive to their jobs for the safety of everyone. My husband tells me that the terrorist cells are constantly testing out their security at the airports, just to see what security will let slide by. Very scary!

No Lucretia, i didn`t call you a liar ,, that is your imagination i specificly wrote that it seemed to be in the realm of an Urban legend,,, as it sounded a bit strange .... I also said that some clothes soaked in plastic Explosives were found. And i alos claim that maybe changing whims of security guards are good , the less predicted they are the better the security ... mirjam

Cheryl , the less security people behave in predicted ways the better they can catch the terrorists. mirjam

Susan ,, you are welcome , and this is what i was trying to write about to those other ladies. Somehow they think it is all one big joke. In Israel , we had many terror acts stoped by security people. Here you will see people give their bags for checking and saying ;"Thank you !!". We know it is a hard tedious job , and that that all the checkers do it for US , for everybody .... When i am in Belgium and enter a ,mall and nobody looks in my bag , i feel unsafe. Please tell your husband , that there are people in the world who appreciate and respect this job ,,, mirjam

Saying my my post was in the 'realm of an Urban Legend' is saying it is not true. You don't saying lying, but the sentiment is the same! You also said it was strange, another euphemism for lying.

That they had to hand over their underwired bras or not continue to board, happened. No ifs, ands or buts.

My daughter did not soak her underwear in plastic explosives, so that has no relevance to what I said.

Yeah, well wait until the day that they're actually *adults*! I've been working at the univ. library for 30 years supervising student workers and treating them all as adults. Now my "baby" daughter is as "old" as they are! I still can't get used to her coming in to see me at work every day and she's been doing it for 3 1/2 months now! LOL

Joan (still older than you!)

I'm sorry, but this caught me by surprise. How would your husband know that a "cell" was testing out the security? And if he KNEW it was a member of a "cell", why they aren't being arrested under the Patriot Act? Did you mean to state this a different way? Or is this the hype that his employers are telling him every day?

Homeland Security has caught several members of terrorist cells as they are trying to get things thru the aiports here. Recently, they arrested a woman trying to get thru the airport with sheet explosive on, just to see if she could get it thru security. And no, it isn't hype, it is very real. When they catch anyone going thru the airport with certain things, i.e. guns, very large knives, any type of detonating device, etc, they do arrest them...immediately.
