What's a #9 in metric?

It's 1.0 in metric. At least that's what my very old conversion chart says.

I'm using a John James Petite, and I'm *still* trying to get just one more stitch after the needle unthreads itself.

They do say that a Yorkshireman is a Scot whose sense of generosity has been removed Bruce

I use the same method as Jim (see description further down). I think I got it from the book Linen Stitches. That book has a few handy little tips.
