Yeouch! I just checked the news for Toronto - the gas leak was at the south end of Dundas Square - almost the busiest intersection in the city. A block from Ryerson University, right above a subway line and across the street from the Eaton Centre - could have been very, very nasty had it gone up.

The plows have been through our neighbourhood twice this morning. I've finished the laundry, and the glued the needlework to the backing for the artist's trading cards. Once those are dried, I can add the label with my name etc.

I've also got the macaroni and cheese ready in the casserole so it can just be popped into the oven when the DH gets home.

I think I'll put on the kettle and have a nice hot cuppa.

Why do I like you ....... let me count the reasons. Uh Uh Uh Oh well. I think we're supposed to get the same as you, so don't be putting any hex on me, ya old witch. We'll give you another Juan (one) to worry about. Is your appointment for a lobotomy due? :-))

Good heavens woman ... were you born among the wolves? Maybe a little marmite will go well with that oxtail .... BARF!

I hope you left the bones in when you made the oxtail soup

Which place? If we went to the Fire Hall, it closed. C&K's might, but not likely.

You're the one always whining about summer so winter should certainly go to you. Nope, no lobotomies - yet.

It is considered gourmet fare but what do you NBers know ? I had Marmite for lunch, spread very thin. I take it you did not do what I suggested and also other people told you ? As a matter of interest, the other day I tried some on the end of a spoon and didn't like it either. That is NOT the way it is meant to be served.

In a similar vein, I tried Vegemite for the first time the other day. We were at a friend's house, helping to celebrate Australia Day. Spread thin on bread, it wasn't bad at all. Apparently Vegemite and cheese sandwiches -using old cheddar, of course - are very good.

Happy belated Australia Day to those down under!

That was a different leak. The one I mentioned was at Yonge and St. Clair at 8:00 this morning. It could have been a very exciting morning in Toronto. Thankfully, it wasn't. SOunds like you had a pleasant and productive day. Louisa

Glad to hear it. The RAF cooks were very good but far too often unappreciated by their clientelle; unlike the Army Catering Corps whose clients were often heard to call, after trying a salad, "would you like your maggot back?"

LOL - I can understand the gardeners, but.. I'll remind you - this is a slightly larger metro area than your little part of the world. And, well, the accident was a good 50 mi from here. North, and east - sort of 1-2 o'clock relative to the capital - while we're at about 8:30 or 9. You'd be sending me on a couple of hours drive - or skid - around town and the beltway. Not very friendly. I think this had the highway tied up for a good, long while. Not to mention perfuming the neighborhood.

But, if Cheryl really wanted me to send her manure, Loudoun Cty is horse country - it can be had much closer to home.
