I have been in your lovely, beautiful, marvellous country and I can't wait to return!

We have been in Bergen and in many places around Sognefjord (hope I wrote it right). It was, well, like dreaming with open eyes!

For your Italian you can try to have fun with some Italian handcraft magazines, like for example Le idee di Susanna or Mani di fata (Mani di fata is more about needlecraft). It's good exercise and lots of fun! I usually find them at Interpress in Stockholm, let me know if you can find them in Alesund...

Welcome back! I can't believe the time has passed so quickly. I'm curious..after so many years teaching do you feel happy or nervous (or even "oh no, here we go again"!) about going back to school. When I have a long holiday I don't sleep very well the night before I go back to work.

That is a GOOD question, Eimear! (and I made a looong answer...)

When the summer holiday comes, I am sure that THIS time it I will be terrible to go back to work!

I HAVE had some years when I felt: " OH! Once again... !!!!The holiday should last for 6 months!!!!"

Normally I look forward to see my collegues, I always miss them after a while. I got an SMS from one of them last thursday, telling that 3 of them should meet for a beer; last chance before work! I was driving home that day, and hoped to reach them, but was too late! LOL!

Earlier, when I had "my own" class, I was always eager to start, to find out how "grown up" they had been through the summer; there was always a change! and there was so many exciting things to do the next school year.

Now I work 50% , because of my health. I function very well with that, but 50% is not egough to have the "over all responibility" for a class, so I work in all the 3 classes at the same level. I like that, now I know all the pupils at 6. level, but it is a different "sort of work".

The classes cooperate much, and we are a team of 5 teachers and 2-3 assistants who work well together, and LIKE to work together.( age 28 to 60!LOL!)

I work much with pupils with different problems, ADHD, Asperger, Tourettes syndrome. They are all sweet and wonderful children, and I am so fond of them!!! (now there are only boys), But they can be very "outgoing" and busy sometimes, so I have to pretend for mysef that I am as energic and spirited and strong, as I was as an 18 yo! ;-)

I MUST admit that I take a deep breath the day the year starts.

But I have one of the classes in textile work too, and I love that!

Besides I have the responsibility for the schools library, but VERY little time to do it. (lack of money, bad economy), so my job is not dull or tedious,

..and I am happy to say it is OK to start monday ;-))

...but it had been OK to have a looooooong holiday, LOTS of money, and time to travel too!! LOL! AUD ;-))

I will try to find some, but I allready have tried to understand handicraft web-sites! After my Rome visit I could not forget an embroidered tablecloth kit, which I did NOT buy :-( and I tried to find something similar online. It is incredible what you can understand and translate with an online word book!LOL!

By the way, I found this, and it is interesting!

Welcome back. I still think of the year as beginning when school starts and it has been many years since I was either a student or a teacher! Yours does start quite a bit earlier than ours do - we start in September.

The weather here this summer has been very good. I don't swim in Puget Sound though - too cold for me. (11-13C if I am doing the conversion right -- about 52-54F).

Good for you for trying the Italian lessons. I kept thinking I would renew my school girl French before we leave for France in September, but I haven't gotten much accomplished.
