I've gone stashing with Darla, which was great fun. And about a gazillion years ago I met folks at SOCS Des Moines. Tegan, weren't you there? Considering I don't live that far from Caryn and Ellice, and the other DC area folks I really need to try and meet them IRL too.

Lol You think I didn't have a nip or two during the games ? The last time I looked, the clock said 1330 but at 0500 my cousin called from Sydney, Australia to say my aunt had just died. It's a 'release' she was lost in Alzheimers for ten years odd, but that only leaves me my aunt in Wallington now.

The aunt in Australia was always very proud of two things, she was born on the day the Titanic sank and when she married and went to Australia she became Enid Dine, which fact the London papers picked up on when her announcement went in, it's a palindrome.

Just thought I would mention her claim to posterity one last time.

At this point in the holiday madness, I'm thinking I'll desperately need a "girls day out" for S.E.X. sometime soon! lol

Caryn (free on weekends, with a bit of planning!)

Sigh. I would *love* to get away, but between Nutcracker madness, two kids just getting over chicken pox (and one a nasty fall that bashed up his face) and the consequent homework makeup marathon, and getting ready for the holidays, I don't think I'll be getting out anytime soon, unless it's to a padded room!

Best wishes, Ericka

About 10 years ago, I was packing to visit my parents and was standing in front of the closet to select the obligatory dress for the visit to the old aunties. And it dawned on me that my mother was now the oldest auntie. That gave me a moment's pause, believe me.

Gone shopping and hangin' out with Caryn, Donna. Met up with Sue H, a couple of times, and Anne T (who I think isn't hangin' out lately), we met Gillian on one of her trips through. And, Lucy a.k.a. Crewelwoamn - who's a really talented needleartist, that doesn't post often, but we have some guild chapters in common.

Yeah - we talk and bond.

I hope that I didn't forget anybody.

Hey - don't forget me - haven't gone to visit the family in a while.

Congrats - that's quite an accomplishment. And an emoticon, to boot!

I miss playing bridge - we were addicted in grad school (especially as it helped avoid work). And in prior life, the neighbors and I with the then DH played at least a few times a week. But, this DH - no bridge - but I keep threatening to try and teach him, and find some group to play with. We can't always be at or on some ice rink.

Again, congrats.

Any time at all. I would even open a can of tuna and serve a not so gourmet lunch.

And here is DD asking me to fly up to Maryland, while she and her DH, and their best friends, jaunt off to Vegas. It was fun last time, because I met you gals. This time, I dunno if I can make it. We have just put the house up for sale here in Florida, and I have oodles of stash to get rid of, apart from all the crap one acquires over 10 years!!

Thanks.

Look for your local edition of the ACBL (American Contract Bridge League) and find a club locally affiliated to them. Head office in Memphis but all club listings can be found at

All clubs give lessons etc. I used to play 'kitchen bridge' but am a dedicated fiend now to competitive play.

Studies have shown that seniors who play bridge have better immune systems, but they can't seem to find out why. I reckon it is handling the cards + germs and shrugging it all off lol I just know it keeps the brain sharp and active.

LOL - if it will make you feel at home, you can come unpack boxes here! Hey, aren't there grandkids involved in this - you know you'll be heading up.

Just let us know - we can always help with Stash, and visits are good.

I'm soooo jealous. Both DH & I miss real, honest to goodness deli. Although, with Wegmans it's close. The deli we used to go to was sold, and isn't authentic enough any more. There is one which we visit - only a couple of miles from our main doc's office - only about 30 -35 miles from the new house (not changing docs cause of house move) - and across the river.

Now, some friends told us about a real bagel place - only about 15 miles away - so we're going to give that a try.

So, maybe we'll hit FLA soon. We're going to NJ this week - so DH can get his Taylor ham thing fix.

Coming from Brooklyn, I consider the deli to be "not bad" and the bagels are from hunger. Port St Lucie is central Florida and I suspect they might be a little better further south.

It's really hard to make comparisons to what I was brought up on and I guess it's not fair.

Where does your family live?

The FL crew is in Boca. Well, technically my DA is now in Del Rey as she's a block or two over the line from Boca. DB is in Boca. We grew up - so to speak - in Miami & NY. My SIL, who is from NJ, has her brother or sister in send her bagels from NY. However, Boca has some good bagel places, and there's one in-between Boca & Del Rey - I think on Jog Road going north from Yamato a bit - that's really good. Here, I actually end up paying way too much and get bagels at Wegmans - which are better than the other places. But, I'm going to give "Bagel Buddies" a try.

I know there are some good deli's in Boca. But, I spent the formative years spoiled by being able to go to Wolfie's at all hours . Even Pumpernickels in North Miami. Up here - there are literally about 4 or 5 good deli's - scattered in about a 30 mi radius of DC, and with the move - that makes them about 30-40 miles from here.

Enough food talk. DH just got home, and we're waiting on the ever healthy pizza ^ salad delivery!
