Quick! Somebody in Nova Scotia go feel Sheena's head...she *must* be sick!!!!!!!! LOL

Congrats on the win, Sheena!

Oh! And (as already reported) I've met Gillian, Tia Mary & Darla (2006 was a banner year!) but also Arliss in Bismarck, ND, who used to post here and still lurks once in a great while. Hoping to meet "T", newbie in ND, sometime fairly soon.

Nope. They're committed to their home dance studio for its Nutcracker production, so we don't do any other outside stuff during Nutcracker season (I'd have to blow my brains out ;-) ). They've done other supernumerary work at the Kennedy Center (with the Royal Ballet and the NYC Ballet), but we just can't take on any other Nut. or any other productions near Nut. Doing the Kennedy Center work is hard to fit in even during relative down times, especially since at this age they get out of school relatively late and need to get to bed relatively early.

Yes, there are so many amusing backstage stories ;-) I'm a little nervous about DS1 dancing at the moment. He just got over chicken pox, and while he was still sick and feverish from them he fainted and practically knocked his front teeth out. They're still splinted and not too tight, and I'm really worried someone's going to crack him in the teeth again before they've settled back in well. I always have a love/hate relationship with Nutcracker season. The kids love it, and it's great to see them doing well and enjoying themselves, but it's a tremendous amount of work for everyone. It would feel a lot less frantic to me if I didn't work backstage as much, but there just aren't a lot of other experienced boy moms, and the last thing anyone wants or needs is a whole pack of boys being supervised by someone who's clueless or spineless! I've finally got at least one other mom who's capable, so I should be able to get a little time off this year, and hope springs eternal that some of the other ones will be trainable and can take the lead in future years. The boy gig isn't bad once you know what you're doing, but you have to be really firm and a lot of the moms aren't really comfortable with that.

Sounds like fun.

Best wishes, Ericka

So have you decided for sure on a new place of residence???

Heavens, no. Much as we liked Montana, we are leaning to New Hampshire. However, unlike Bobbie V, Cheryl etc, we are looking at further north. First thing is sell stuff, sell house, store what we want to keep and then put what there is still space for in the RV!

LOL - now that's an idea. Of course, if everyone wanted to come visit the US Capitol, though not too central - we've got lots of room, and lots of LNS.

Dec. 28, in time for the

Wouldn't it be fun to do a meet-up there? I'm game, assuming family visits schedule works out. (We haven't even decided exactly what we're doing for Thanksgiving tomorrow, let alone Christmas! I have four work-related deadlines in the next three weeks, so I'm not looking too far ahead these days.)

Sue - I was going to e-mail you. Looks like Donna, Caryn & I are thinking to go up for the Dec 2 Open House. Could you meet us? Or at the least - give me directions to the place we went to eat the last time we headed up there?

Alas, I can't make it on the 2nd. Chained to the computer, under deadline. BUT - the restaurant was the Candle Light Inn. It's on Frederick Road, about a mile or a mile and a half (I guess it's West? AWAY from the Beltway, toward Ellicott City). I've been there several times since, and never disappointed!

of you be aware that it's not only the Stitching Post, but also Seminole Sampler (quilting) and Cloverhill Yarns. Be ready to spend both time and money!!

And if any of you needs a layer cake, I can attest that Sugarbakers, on Frederick Rd. just a block from Stitching Post (next to Friendly's) , is absolutely outstanding! I bought DH's birthday cake there last spring. Let me enable you there, too....

Sue (with you in spirit!)

Pictures, Ellice, pictures! I know what Caryn looks like, but don't think I've ever seen a picture of Donna and would love to see you as well! Tegan

Yup, need to get into seminole sampler. And I remember being foreced into something at Cloverhill...

Layer cake - just what I need. However, I did bake the gingerbread muffins and the Raspberry nut bread from Cook's Holiday baking issue - both of which received excellent reviews. Don't want to talk about the "chocolate decadence" cake which DH bought at Wegman's for us to take to NJ. I think it's their incredibly rich version of chocolate ganache. But, the best - the dipped in fudge, double chocolate chip cookies he bought - just in case. Those were everyone's favorite.

Too bad about the deadline. But......

A Wegman's opened around here last year, and their prices aren't bad for general stuff (for example, their regular price for boneless chicken breasts beats the supermarket 1/2 price sale) , but they get you with the delectable (and pricey) fresh-baked stuff and the gourmet cheeses and extras. But I can tell you, the $5 raspberry Napoleon was WORTH EVERY CENT!

You're so right. Actually, according to Washington Consumer's Checkbook - using a main store (Safeway IIRC) as the 'zero" - shopping at Wegmans' actually ended up saving $1200 over the year, on their basic basket for family of 4. Their house brands prices are very good, and some national brands as well. They carry so much NE specialty stuff or brands that are hard to get that it's a great place to shop. What I've noticed is that they don't carry quite as many say of the simple things - like detergent or plastic bags. They have the house brand, and some antional, but not tons of every major brand. But, for anything not typical - it's great.

One of my friends has fallen into the pit you found. Hence, she's decided as a budget thing that for 3 months she wouldn't shop at Wegman's because when she goes in she can't resist some pricey bakery item or the like.

I alternate shopping there and at the Harris-Teeter in our 'hood (their flagship store). I do better in Wegman's if DH isn't along.

I'm a slug. I've been saying I'd get this darn new photo site up and just haven't done it. But, I'll send you one of my faves directly. And in about a minute or two.

I've met quite a number over the years, though most don't read anymore (and I don't read that much now either). I've met quite a few from Maryland and Virginia, a few from PA and NY... a few more from OR... and a couple of scattered folks at one large show or another.

Unfortunately, due to lack of time on my part, I haven't been getting together with the MD/DC/VA Tangle that started up here as often as I'd like.. it's been just over a year now, since the last one I could get to, and looks like it'll be the summer before I manage again. Also unfortuantely, it's shrunk quite a bit from the 60 or so we used to have in the group (almost all of whom were on RCTN at one point). Need more people to join in. And for those of us who have been part of the group to stop getting to busy or moving.
