Stitching bliss

Gee Thanks!!! I love that design and I think I have to have it. I recently finished a blackwork piece of hers and it came out really nice and was a lot of fun to do.

Nothing I'm working on comes to mind at the moment as being thrilling, but I have a few special ones waiting in the wings.

Of the present projects, I would say my iris panel. I work on my projects on a 1 week rotation, and this is the one that most often gets stretched out over 2 or more weeks. I always look forward to pulling that project out of the plastic cover. Of course I don't know if bliss would be quite the right word since I swear a lot when working on it.

I had a lot of fun embellishing an Old Friends quilt panel and Lula's fabric. Translating Lingerie Ladies cards to cloth and then embellishing the results was very blissful. Both can be seen at

My current project is to bead the top to my Mother of the Groom dress. I am using Swarovski Crystals in 4 and 4 mm Bicone, delica seed beads and #15 seed beads on silk. I am enjoying doing this since it is for my son's wedding in December and it is the first time I have every used these beads on a garmet.

My last project which I loved doing was a design I did based on raspberries. That one took a while to do but I am very happy with it.

I really enjoyed working on Columbine Design's (Carmen Wyant's) Proposal Pillow. Everything about it was a treat to work on.

Pppssssttttt -- (whispering) I only live 5 miles from the Nordic Needle .... a very very bad store to go into for me ... LOL -- it truely is an amazine store -- but hard on my pocket book -- i also know the owner of Shakespeares Peddler (she has a website) -- a very neat lady with some cool stitching patterns fabrics and materials

right now i am working on a millenium sampler done on 32 ct linen over one in most places and over 2 in some places -- its a love/hate relationship -- i am about 3/4s of the way done -- but can only work on it for so long then need to put it down (my eyes get strained ... even with a magnifier) -- so i always have about 5 to 10 projects on the go at all times -- something ready for my every mood ...

working on a knitted "quilt" -- putting together all my grams yarn bits and leftovers into 3 panels of 2 ply fingering yarns in seed stitch and then in the worsted going to use garter to attach the 3 panels together and put a border around the whole thing

a welcome be our guest poem with ivy around it -- debbie mums the snowman calendar (that one is hard to do started in 98 and i sat and stitched on it the whole time mum was in hospice in 99 so hard to pick up if i m in a sentimental mood) -- 2 needlepoint posey bouquets (were my grams and finally found cotton i liked that made it cheery)(maybe this winter i will finish them up in honor of gram -- she just passed sept 22nd -- also a xstitch irish linen table cloth that gram started (2/3s done) and on another group someone had some old black floss that matched the vintage of the bit i had left so now i can finish that -- a petit point rose and another petit point siamese cat -- my pretty pony that i loved the abstract pic but changed the floss to make my horse lol -- and that s off the top of my head as i dont dare to REALLY look LOL

a needlepoint of grams to mend that has a tear in it -- looking for wool that matches before i endeavour to start taking it apart -- a "welcome" that has the major seasons on it that just needs to be laundered and pressed and then i m going to add a "piano key" border with all the holidays in order repeating then to sew the star on the christmas tree -- a celestial piece i made to make a quilted border for another wall hanging -- and we wont talk about the ones i have finished that need to be framed --

and all the projects i have kitted up waiting for their turn -- and that s only my hand stitching -- i also have quilt tops on the go -- in the next few years i hope to have a lap quilt and a few items for each major holiday of the year (i m not one for alot of knickyknacky things) so like a table runner - pillowcases - quilt for the bed - lapquilt for the couch - placemats - and then make a bag that will store the holiday in it -- i have valentines day and st patricks day i m working on the lap quilt tops are made and just waiting borders and pillowcases done

-- now i m having to work on the rest from the scraps from the major items -- what i m trying to do is use up my fabric stash and not replenish it only buying what i need -- plus have the quilt idea for halloween and christmas and easter -- each quilt is going to have a different pattern -- i am shooting for 13 quilts for my bed LOL -- one each month plus an extra for the "inbetween times" -- i have the inbetween times top done and its just waiting to quilt --

i also want to get better at tatting -- and i have some crocheted centers that gram started and was going to make a table cloth -- and am trying to work to duplicate her stitch and use a slightly different shade and make a doily for each of the descendants of gram -- that way they have something she started and i m just finishing it up

out of the 4 grandkids i am the only one that picked up stitching just like my gram -- so i was the one that got all of her crafting supplies

I heard Theresa moved recently to somewhere south (Arizona? New Mexico?). I tried 3 different times to go to her shop but she was closed the first 2 and had moved away this last time. I was really bummed I never got to see her shop. I did get to meet her years ago before she had a brick-n-mortar.

WHEW! Makes me tired just *thinking* of all you've got in progress! I'm pretty much a one-at-a-timer.

Well I'm a Gemini -- so i flit from project to project as the whim hits me -- i have come to realize that if i dont have a few on the go, when i become bored i quit stitching all together so its best for me to give it a pat and pack it up and grab the next "flight of fancy" -- better to progress than let collect dust -- knowing that i can pick up another project at anytime sometimes give me an added lift to finish one (especially when its so close to being done) -- most of the time though i dont really start a new project (unless its a "just gotta start it now") until i finish another UFO

yes pls let me know when you re coming down to do some shopping -- i wld love to get together -- remember the backroom is always welcome for us to sit and stitch there -- we also have that yarn store (which moved and not sure the exact location)

yes -- wild and wacky woman was a hoot to stitch -- i made a quilted border since i took it in and cld find nothing to make it stand out -- so while asleep one nite i dreamt i put the piano border around the edge in all the bright colors and it looked great -- since i was learning how to free machine quilt it was a nice small project to work with

i take my finished items to "The Framer" here in Fargo -- Lois is in the EGA so i trust her for framing it the best way -- i believe all of my stitching (except 2 the little square alphabet that Theresa gave me and that fall house done on white aida - remember the home parties to buy stitching kits?)

i hope to put a big dent in my stitching/sewing stash this winter -- i have progressed alot in the last few years (although i have my dead stop times) -- and i have only been purchasing "must haves" (which has helped my pocketbook) --
