I started with counted cross-stitch after being influenced by my sister. I love all those other stitches too, so I try to use the term "counted thread embroidery" now. I really like reproduction antique samplers, but I like new things, too. I also knit, crochet and sew.

I am an EGA member-at-large and a member of a local fiber arts guild. I have taken and completed one EGA correspondence course - English Band Sampler from Nan Euler.

I work for a law firm as a legal assistant to support my fiber habits. I'm married to Rudy, a civil engineer, and we have a chocolate lab named Ajax. No children. I love to read, mostly mysteries. And I like to work crossword puzzles.

I'm Phyllis DeMers, born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, currently living in Meraux, Louisiana a suburb of New Orleans. Married 32 years to George, a wonderful man and husband. Two kids and two grandkids.

I've always done some type of stitching but got into counted cross stitch around 1990. Around the same time medical problems forces me to curtail my lifestyle, but I found even in pain I could cross stitch which didn't make me feel so useless.

Needlework is not big in this area although I do have a local shop. I do know others who cross stitch but it's mostly admiring one anothers work because style and techniques are so different than mine.

I rarely make a piece for myself. I can start a piece that I like with no one in mind and before it's finished some claims it. I must be present when it goes to the framing shop!

I think I've posted a question once to the newsgoup which was answered but I do enjoy following what's going on in the world of needlework.

Clearly, I've given my life up to Cross Stitch. But I also keep busy with: school volunteering, traveling to Maine, audiobooks (great while stitching), and cooking.

I've been posting to RCTN on & off (with a lot of "off" time) since '95.

Wow! I'm seeing several new names this time around. Hi to all the lurkers and mostly lurkers!

I am Gillian, also known as Gill, and am now living in Florida. I am 69 today ( just can't believe I am that old), and live with my DH, Jim, and our two dachshunds, Max and Gretel. Until last month my MIL lived with us for eight years, but now we are free, as she has gone to an Assisted Living Home. We have a Bounder Motorhome, and plan to travel a lot more now! I have two children, Marcella, 43, married and living in Maryland, and my bachelor son, Mike, 40, in the US Navy in Japan. That will change shortly as I am about to be a mother-in-law to a Japanese lady, Ayako!! I have three grandkids from my daughter, three step-kids and a grand total of eleven grandkids between us!! I am originally from UK, but came to the States in 1961 on a one-year Med Tech contract, met DH#1, married and stayed here. Since he was in the Navy we travelled a fair bit. I have always loved embroidery, and did a lot of crewel and surface embroidery , dress-making and knitting when I was younger. I got hooked on counted cross-stitch in 1976, and have never stopped since then. I still knit on occasions, but not the fun fairisles any more. We just don't need them in Florida!

Julie in rural Texas. 42 years old..43 next month. I 've been married to DH for almost 9 years, one wonderful son, aged 7 years (very smart).

I do mostly cross-stitch, some of it from self generated computer charts. Some hardanger. I also make Jewelry (beads, beads, beads!) which came from all the leftover beads from cross stitch projects. It is now an obsession.

I work at our family business in the office...so I mainly have alot of time during the day to read everyone's posts. I volunteer at our local PTO, and Junior Service League. I really get a lot out of community service...

I'm Jan aged 47 from the UK . Living here with DH Dave and children Jamie aged 17 and Ellie (Ellinor Jane) aged 5 . I work part time at present but am applying for full time work . I love many forms of craft and needlework although I've been concentrating on knitting , cross stitch and counted thread just lately . I've done some model stitching and I love hearing about different forms of needlework - not all of which I'm keen to pursue but I do love to learn about them. Jan

Ann age 46 feeling 100. I love needlwork and i belong to the guild. my grammie, great grand mother, and mom did needlework, lace making and i am the 6th gen doing it. i do feel old now. hardanger ,black work, open work, emboryery , crosstitch, tatten and bobbin lace, are my favorite. i have lived it most place but settled in New Mexico for now. I have two siamese, age 11 and 3 . PS i also do genealogy.

Lucy age 64, Strasburg, Virginia USA I design and teach small canvas projects locally but my first love is crewel and second is stumpwork. I have dabbled in hardanger, pulled thread, blackwork, drawn thread, surface embroidery, cross stitch, montmellnic(sp?), silk and metal, Brazilian, you name it, I've tried it. I'm going to New Hampshire later this month for a week of Crewel Camp with Betsy Leiper (hooray!) I have a son who chose his wife wisely and a beautiful 2 year old grandson who is going to be visiting next week. I mostly lurk here and have learned a lot by doing so.

I worked for about 20 years as a legal secretary/paralegal until health problems

I had a needle put in my hand at about age 2 and have been happily stitching ever since. Counted cross-stitch was the only useful thing I learned in college. :) I also knit and crochet; used to tat a lot when I was in high school and college and needed a project that fit in my hip pocket, but haven't done much of it since, because I'm just not a lace-type gal.

Before I went on maternity leave, I worked with special needs children in preschools. Prior to that, I was a special needs caregiver for adults in group homes for 10 years.

Barbara T age 63 Stay-at-home mom who retired with DH, Sold house, moved into our fifth wheel RV and have been roaming the US. Born and raised in Kansas, (heart and roots still there). Legal domicile Pensacola Florida, Body is currently in NW Virginia, for family reunion in near Ft Valley. About to head for Georga, Alabama to visit and fish for a while, (not long it's getting warm there!). Found cross stitch when I could not find a Frank Lloyd Wright design in knit or crochet. I mostly read (lurk) this thread, throwing in a comment now and then. Have learned tons reading. The most helpful collection of thoughful and knowledgable group I was delighted to have run across.
