2007-08 RCTQ BOM top put together!

Thanks for the nudge, Roberta. I had missed them on my first few looks! I've just looked again - to see the tulips and also to see what someone else said about the flowers in the cornerstones! Now I have seen all the superb little touches. Thanks everyone for the pointers. It's even more beautiful now, Carole! . In message , Roberta Zollner writes

Thanks for the input! I knew I'd get some helpful suggestions here. I'm still "pondering." Of course I haven't even layered and pinned the thing yet. I'm headed out-of-state to visit my mom for a few days, so my main goal was to get the pieces together so that I could pick it up off the floor (which is my design wall!) and fold it up before I left!

IF I finish it before Christmas, I'll post the picture early, because my brother and sister-in-law would NOT be reading RCTQ! :)

There are lots of other ways to quilt applique blocks. How about echo quilting, or simple cross hatching in the background? The cross hatching is a very traditional look. And if you feel you need to quilt through some of the applique, use the quilting to "fill in" details in the applique, like veins in the leaves and such. Have fun with it and listen to the quilt, one block at a time.

Absolutely beautiful, Carole! I'm very partial to the colors you chose. In fact, it would one room in my house very well...the room with the purple accent wall.... :-)

I've been out of state for a week with no fast Internet and I haven't been able to keep up with replies in my BOM topic, so I've just gotten through reading them and I want to thank everybody for all the nice compliments! Next week I'll start the layering --- my LEAST favorite part of quilting!
