A bright Idea

I had fun with a Chocolate Box ( empty of course) It was a Terry's chocolate segments box. They were delicious!! Flat on one side, It must have another use!! lol I used the plastic label which was encasing it as a template and added a little sachet and filled it with small pebbles! I am so delighted with my "invention" lol. You can see it in the last 2 pages I think. Also made me a Tote bag. I cant wait for the next workshop to show it off. Made 2 Handbags from squares. I saw a picture I must admit somewhere here and had a go at figuring it out. A good use of some Batiks. Lastly I actually made a start on my scrap bag. I now have a container with about 250 21/2" squares and another with strips!! I am still only 1/3rd of the way down though. You can tell we had a quiet but enjoyable christmas here! Happy New Year to you all!

My word, what a neat invention - clever you; and I love those 'squares' bags, especially the non-batik one (sort of stylised flowers?). Gorgeous. You've had a far more productive week than I have had >g< I've been so lazy. I must pick up speed now - I've got masses to pack into the next six months (at least!). Thanks for sharing Estelle. You make such pretty things. . In message , Estelle Gallagher writes

What a clever use of an empty chocolate box! And I'll bet it smells good, too. I'm sure your new thread bin is much easier to empty than the cloth-lined one I have -- the threads stick to the cloth, and I'd bet they won't stick to your box. Good idea!

Wah! We don't get boxes like those so I can't make one of those. We can buy Terry's Chocolate Orange in a square box. The "orange" has to be sharply whacked on a counter or something to separate the segments. Quite yummy! But I do wish I could figure out how they make the oranges. Debra in VA See my quilts at
