Beautiful! I've been tempted to do placemats - but keep getting 'caught' on what design to use. Your have inspired me.

Simple way to make placemats - use any 12 inch block in the center, then add a strip on each side to make the finished width that you would like. If I decide not to use binding, but do a quick turn, I use a large thread cone as my template to round the corners. I just marked the edge with a marker, so the curve would be the same each time!
