I heard on the news last week about a new-to-me LQS not too far away. Checked out their website and newsletter and just had to go. Today two of my quilting friends and myself headed off to Olde City Quilts in Burlington, NJ. About a 40 minute ride for us. The shop was everything the newsletter hinted and more. Tremendous fabric selection; fun, warm, helpful staff; beautiful quilts and more. We spent over an hour and a half in the shop browsing, buying and chatting. Their fabric prices were in line with the LQS around the corner from us but the selection was far more extensive. They also teach long arm quilting - among many other things - as well as rent time on the long arm machines. Since it was my birthday month I got
20% off the large cutting mat - which was already about $20 less than I've seen them elsewhere - and I could also get my age discount on a yard of fabric. Since I'm a project shopper versus a stash shopper I didn't take advantage of that today but can go back for that later if I want. I don't know if they do online sales as when I went to their website there were no fabric links and didn't think to ask. After visiting the shop we went to lunch and then went cheesecake shopping!
I know we don't have too many folks here in the central NJ area - our Alice is the only one I can think of at the moment - but if anyone is in the area or looking for an excursion, I would highly recommend this shop. And if you're close enough, take a look at their newsletter to see some of their regular 'class' offerings. Many sewing days are free and I think think those classes that do have fees are very reasonable by our other LQS standards. I'll definitely be going back there.
