a re-introduction (long)

I've been away from RCTQ, not quite 'off planet' but sometimes it felt that way. Since the Directory has just come out and I had to inform Alice of changes to 4 of 13 relevant fields for my entry I thought it might be time to re-introduce myself.

So now I am back -- with a new name, new home, new career path, and no D (of any variety)H. I used to be know here as Anne in CA. After trading in DH's last name for a new one -- Morgan -- I also reverted to my real first name -- Rosanne -- and usually answer to Rose. I had to mark everything All Read because there were almost 10,000 posting since I was here last in February! Hi all Its good to be back.

Below are relevant snipped bits from my original introduction back on 7 September 2003! with semi-relevant additions in < > if anyone is curious. Otherwise, stop here and go read more interesting posts. :-)

-- Hello rctq,

Since the last census, we are supposed to refer to the San Francisco Bay Area as the Greater San Jose Area because SJ is now bigger than SF. Phooey. Since I still call the ball park "Pac Bell", I am going to say I live in the "San Francisco Bay Area".

I think I have always known how to sew. Mom has a photo of me sitting next to Gram at about 18 months of age (me, not Gram) sewing on some punched cardboard sewing cards with long shoe laces. Gram is working on a quilt in the photo.

I can count all the quilts I have made in my life on my two hands and my left big toe.

My access to ng is erratic at best so I missed your re-intro but then caught it with Laurie's reply.

So welcome back Rose!!!! A Rose by any other name would be just as welcome

(sorry for the pun - couldn't resist!)

Hello, dear friend, how nice to see you again. The Hug you made is alive and well (quite alive, as a matter of happy sound level). Welcome home. We left the light on for you. Polly

Thanks Laurie. I probably won't post much (or quilt much either) due to a pretty full load of classes, but at least there's time to read now! [and keep up without the help of Mr. Al Read] Aren't chocolate labs totally the best?

Oh Cheryl that's just about what my 're-birth' announcements said. I sent them out to friends and family to announce the name change all at once and the front had that quote.

Thanks for the welcome back. It feels good to be 'home' again.

Thanks Patti. Actually its school that is getting in the way of my real life right now -- once the work part starts I'll be like a normal person again. Lab one day from 9 to noon; classes in another subject 4 days a week from 5:30-8 pm; not a schedule conducive to much of anything. May take up hand piecing ...

Thanks Patti. And I know I still owe you an email. Watch for it, but don't hold your breath -- midterms this week :-(

Rose: WELCOME back, Rose, Anne, Rosanne! However you call yourself, we are glad you are here again. I agree about SF vs SJ. Sure, SJ is a nice area, great weather and all, but SF is a world renown city. IOW, I might know the way to San Jose, but I left my heart in San Francisco! Regarding chocolate ... it is still a tad cool, so it is still time to mail chocolate to me. Not for long though! Grins, PAT in VA/USA Official Chocolate Taster of RCTQ

Thanks Pat. As for the chocolate, I may have left it a bit late -- its been really hot here and I am afraid that it would all melt before leaving my own P.O. Guess I'll just have to taste this bit myself and send your in the Fall. :-)

Thanks for the welcome back Carolyn. I am afraid I've forgotten who I 'stole' the disclaimer from. That's the trouble when one steals, um, borrows, um, appropriates, um ...

Actually, I'm rather proud of having thought that up all by myself. My story and I'm sticking to it :-)
