Had to print that off to put in my sewing info notebook where I save tips and information such as this. I didn't realize how needles were made. Is there info on thread also?

Harriet Hargraves has a book that deals with thread and fabric "fiber to fabric" that you might want to check out.

And a word from Old Grumpy. It simply is not enough to know everything about needles if you don't Change It. I know, I know. It's hard to stop what you're stitching when you're on a roll and things are going well - but a needle can not be expected to be used for a million miles. In addition to a clean SM, the finest thing you can do for your sewing is to put in a new needle. Keep an old child-proof pill bottle close by and put your used needles and bent/dull pins in it. Hear, hear!!!

Machines here get a lot of use so - every new project (eg. quilt piecing OR quilting - for larger quilts two needles per quilt) OR first of the month as required.

The cost is negligible compared to the wasted thread and time, extra machine servicings, and drug/alcohol/chocolate consumption to calm frazzled nerves.
