One down, one almost there!
Today I got the binding done on the memorial quilt for my best friend's mom, who passed away in May. It's only 14x18, but machine applique with trapunto and some free-motion embroidery. Used Ricky Tims' piped binding techique to bring out the slight red accent color. I've got pictures posted under the yahoo Quiltguy group (without binding)

and will put some on my own site one of these days... The other quilt is the black-on-black that I started in the depths of winter. Today I worked through the three-dimensional chiffon and the remaining velvet piece. And I finished the binding over the curves on the bottom - some turned out to be so tight that I had to use a "drawstring thread" to get the other side flat before stitching. All in all, I'm pretty pleased! I still need to attach one planet that will extend past the binding and add some quilting and couching in key places. Picture in same place -
