almost there...........

The first day to drop off entries for the NY State Fair Arts & Home competition (crafts division) is Thursday. Everything is done except for the baby quilt, however.....I am almost done with it!!!

I had the hardest time figuring out how to actually do the quilting but thanks to or own Queen of Squishies letting me bounce ideas off her, a neat idea formed. Of course, now that the deadline is fast approaching, I have altered it slightly. I have made a friendship star quilt and done stitching inside each of the stars, but it needed something else.

I have 12 more stars to stitch in the sashing and I should be finished. I have already done the wavy border stitching, but think that I am going to forego the stars in the border as I feel that might be overkill.

As soon as I get it all done, I will get a picture taken and have DH upload the pictures of all my entries so far. I might even get some pictures of the food entries if I remember, though I'm not sure how good they would turn out. Dang, just remembered that i haven't gotten a picture of the cross-stitch entry, so I will have to do that as well.

Anyway, just thought I'd let you know of my progress. Part of what has kept me motivated has been the fact that i promised pictures and I don't want to let the group down .

Larisa, glad to have a cheering section for some of my projects.....next up, my fleece cape for wearing this fall (until I lose the baby weight anyway, though it will probably work when I have her in her sling/carrier)

I am going to need to inspect this fleece cape you are speaking of. Whether you want to send it to me or meet me somewhere...your choice! ;-) (I have been thinking of a cape myself, so am extremely interested in what you are creating!)

Congrats on all the entries! I keep thinking that I should start entering my stuff. I think I am going to work on a series for next year though....too late for this year!

Good luck I hope you do well in the competition! You've kept us abreast of your progress in this as you've gone along and can't wait to see the pics.

I am not sure what winners were in the center of progress builging, mine are all in the Arts & Home building. I will be dropping them off (the sewing/needlecraft/quilting entries) on Thursday, and once I get the postcards back after the judging, I will post again what my status is. I have high hopes, but don't really expect anything. Last year, I entered just for fun and everything was accepted!!! 3 Honorable mentions and a 3rd place...for someone entering just for fun, you really can't beat that.

Pictures will be posted this weekend of everything that is being entered in that division, and I will get food pictures done as each entry is completed.
