Anybody need more fabric??? (TRINITY, NC)

Hey y'all,

I haven't been around in awhile; lots going on here. My mother died last Sunday and I am cleaning out her stuff - I almost feel like a vulture . There is a whole room of sewing stuff, fabric coming out my ears. If you are anywhere near Trinity, NC (that's near High Point) and would be interested in coming over to check out the stash, LMK offlist. I have also listed it on Craigslist.

The fabrics range from cotton to garment fabrics, some satin, almost all is yardage. There are also some trims, yarn (almost all acrylic), patterns, etc. Some small pieces of upholstery fabrics for making bags too. Eventually, there will be the mamma-jamma of all yard sales out here, but we're nowhere near that stage yet.

Again, email me offlist if interested. Sewing room organization will be Tuesday. snipped-for-privacy@gmail.com

Dear Lisa: Not long ago, I saw a post that I first thought was yours but wasn't, so I wondered where you have been. Now I know why you've been away.

Please accept my warm condolences on the loss of your dear mother.

So sorry about your mother, Lisa. It is such a special sorrow. You're heroic starting the sorting so soon. I hope it goes well for you. . In message , MicrontheCat writes

Thanks. We actually started the sorting and cleaning before she died, which was kinda vultury-feeling - there was nothing wrong w/ her mind at all, and she was sitting in the living room as we were going through her bedroom.

I prolly would have taken the week off (having spent the almost the last 3 weeks with very little rest, due to mom's illness), but dad wants the stuff cleaned out pronto! I'm afraid that if I'm not there to, uh, shall we say, "temper his enthusiasm" (LOL), I'll go down there and it'll all have been sent to the dump! So, gotta get with it.

Besides that, mom told me I had to go through every envelope, book, notebook and box, b/c she had stashed cash around and forgotten where it all was. So far I've found over $100.

Thanks. Mom was diagnosed in 2006, had mastectomy and two rounds chemo + started hormone treatment, but it just would not go away. The last 3 weeks have been loooooooooong.

Lisa, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Please accept my condolences. Good luck going through all of your mother's things; that has to be terribly difficult, especially so soon.

Please accept my condolences! It's a horrible time.

As to your mother's fabrics, etc -- have you contacted any of the senior citizen's centers? The one here is always delighted to get stashes of fabrics, yarns, etc., since their members often simply cannot afford materials but dearly love working with them. In fact, the local center members have a wonderful time knitting, crocheting, sewing, etc., and either give the items to needy children or sell them in an annual festival and give the money to charity. I think they would be thrilled to hear from you!
