as there seem to be more folks here just now...

yup, Sandy, i looked at her profile but i was still none the wiser as to why i got a friend request. fwiw, facebook does indeed give 'suggestions' for friends that come from other friends of your friends. a 'friend request' invite has to be sent by someone using facebook. facebook doesnt actually send you a friend request otherwise. i just like to have some idea why someone chose to send me a friend request when they dont know me from somewhere else first. i never heard of this lady. j.

What's the mystery? Facebook shows quilter Marilyn Brown, in Oklahoma, who is friends w/ a few other RCTQers. She quilts. Her stats are on the FB site, including her kids' ages. No indication what type of chocolate she prefers. FB sends out invites like this all the time, whether we need it or not. ;-D

Friends of friends of friends of friends... that's the way FB works.

Cheers!

R/Sandy

that is a really good point, Julia. when i send requests i dont usually put in a note if the person is going to know me instantly. if they might not recognize me i sure to add a note to my request. heck i dont wanna put anyone else ill at ease by a request from a stranger. that said i'm probly stranger than most anyone else anyone knows. maybe i shouldnt send any requests anymore. hmmmm. j.

I ignore requests from people whose name I do not recognize if there is no information that gives me a clue as to why I should accept the request. If you get repeated requests from someone that you do not know, you can block that person completely; I have done that -- though not to anyone that might have been from this group.

Julia > who is marilyn brown?

I'm not sure those 3,000 are lurking here, but they're lurking somewhere. Mark put the full name of our son into Google a few weeks ago, just to see what would come up, and it seems that a lot of our RCTQ posts are reposted to some "Sew Girls" forum. I think we've discussed this in the past. So who knows who is reading what is posted here, and what is reposted somewhere else. Hence my reluctance to put too much information or photos out there...

amazing. i checked Tims name on google the week after he left us back in late march last year. he wasnt anywhere online. his name is unique as well since all three kids have a new double name and he also has 2 middle names. only three, well two of them in the world now. of course now he has links from google but only cuz he has his own facebook page now. iirc, both sam and gen are showing online for various reasons but Tim wasnt anywhere til after. i found that so incredibly weird.

The other person is Sondra Boehm. I don't recognize her name. Please accept my apologies if we're best friends here on RCTQ and I'm not making the connection. With my massively misfiring synapses, anything's possible and it's a wonder I don't make my husband show photo ID when he comes home every night.

Sunny

Oh, and Claudia -- of course we know who you are.

yep! Marilyn is a FB friend of mine!

LOL I truly do know another Marilyn Brown.

Donna in WA

Mr Manson's younger cousin? Ms. Monroe's aunt's stepsister's daughter's stepbrother's grandaughter? Ms. Munster's likewise strange old auntie?

I have masses of invites to be facebook friends with people. I don't know most of them. I am not even a facebook user.

NightMist

I don't get it either, Leslie. I would *love* to have more quilting friends--I don't think I have any from here. But I've seen people with 600+ friends. How do they possibly keep up? I don't even know 600 people.
