Back from Utah!

Well, I made it back after almost two weeks in Salt Lake City. That's the longest the DH and I have ever been separated since we wed 18 years ago. I do have to say though, the absence DOES make the heart grow fonder. Normally he waits for me to get my luggage and he picks me up outside of baggage claim. This time, he was waiting at the gate! He sprung for the parking fees and all! Anyway, it was a marvelous trip. Spent a weekend touring but I did get to two wonderful quilt shops. One was recommended by Pauline and Jeanne and it was so large - it just kept going from room to room! One other quilt shop was up the street from my hotel (Elaine's Quilt Block) and was well worth the trip as well. I bought patterns and some templates in both shops. With my stash at home and what I had spent on the tours, I wanted to restrain my shopping a bit. But, my biggest surprise was that I was able to find Catholic rosary bead supplies in a state that is 65% Mormon! I am making the rosaries for my mom for Mother's Day. I am using Swarovski beads in her birthstone (aquamarine) but had a "devil" of a time finding the center medallion and a cross that I liked. Supplies are now complete but I only have a week to get them done!

I missed you guys. I said prayers everyday for those that needed them - and those that didn't. I was careful about happy dancing though since I was on the second floor of the hotel! Didn't want to annoy those on the floor below!

I was in training all day and worked for several hours afterwards so I didn't have sufficient time to get on the group. I was only averaging about

4 hours of sleep per night as it was and the time difference was playing havoc with my circadian rhythms.

It's a beautiful state and I am glad I was able to see so much of it. I also was lucky enough to see the Mormon Tabernacle Choir rehearse as well as tape their TV program. It was mind blowing!

But as my DH says - "Fun and games are over; back to reality"! Now, I just want some time to quilt!

Glad to hear you were able to find the quilt shop in Sandy. I forgot about all those little rooms - I actually found it a little overwhelming!

I went on a Grey Line Bus tour of SLC & found it very, very interesting. When I was there, DH was in a class all week, so I had to amuse myself.

Ahhhh! How sweet your DH is - clearly he missed you!

Great find on the rosary bead supplies! Who da thunk you'd find them in SLC, although, my Grey Line tour guide told us that so many companies have relocated to SLC in recent years that the Mormon population is no longer the majority in SLC. That surprised me.

You'll have to post a picture of those rosary beads when you finish them. What a special gift for your mother!
