batik horses ready to quilt

Feb 20, 2007 29 Replies

This is what I have been doing during my two weeks of being snowed in. I paper pieced this lovely border for my batik panel I bought last summer. I was quite taken with the pattern when I bought it, but the picture on the package didn't do it justice. Oh my! I haven't even basted it yet, I have left it hanging on my design wall for days just admiring the batiks. Sigh. Okay, now it is captured in a photo, and tomorrow I baste!

Your Highness, that is outstanding!!! How very complicated looking, and gorgeous batiks!! Is your snow melting yet?

Oh, Karen!!! That is simply GORGEOUS!!!!! No wonder you have it hung to admire. I love it- all the colors are wonderful and the PFP border is stunning. WOW!!! Can I ask where you bought the center panel of the horses? That is just breathtaking! I want one, too.

Great setting Karen - those corners are so exciting. The whole atmosphere of the quilt is 'wild'. Stunning. . In message , "Karen, Queen of Squishies" writes

Thank you! I'm certainly going to be doing more batik quilts. I have always loved batik fabric, but now I am totally hooked on using them in quilts for ME! And yes, our snow started melting yesterday and we can all get out easily now.

Thank you, Leslie! Yes, I have left it hanging to admire it, because once it is basted is is kind of 'ruined' until it is DONE. lol

I bought this panel at a quilt shop in Iowa on a trip last summer, but you can find them online. Just google 'batik panel'.

Thanks, Ginger! And that's okay, you don't have to even try to hide that beg. I'm burying that beg! LOL No, it's not Laurel Birch, but you can find this online by searching 'batik panels'.
