Bernina Machines

I don't have either of those models, but I do have a Bernina that I just absoulutely love! My mother has 2 Berninas. One is about 5 years old the other is 25-30 years old and she loves both of them. I doubt you could go wrong with either machine.

I have a couple of Bernina machines and was thinking about getting one of those machines you referenced in your query. If you go to the official Bernina site they make reference to a software update to correct something that is happening to both of those models. It seems to pertain to the BSR free motion foot and it's use on those machines. I don't know what it is, but they say the updates are available and that they apply to 5% of the machines. Maybe all of the machines that are currently being sold are fixed but it is probably worth mentioning to your sales outlet, and taking into consideration, before you make the purchase. You may not have any problem but then again, it would be horrible to start out your relationship with a new machine on a sour note.

But, I do have one little picky thing.... I find that the straight stitch is not as straight as it could be. The Elna had a much straighter stitch. Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me?

I have the Aurora 440Q and I really like it, but have had some trouble with the stitch regulator on some fabrics. There is an update for it and I have to bring the machine in for it. Dealers and Bernina have been less than forthcoming about the information. I would not have known except that I am on the Aurora Yahoo List. My dealer had to find out from me.

I had the embroidery unit with the machine, but I sold it. I have a Brother Embroidery Machine and I just find that it is much easier to use. With the Aurora, you have to have your computer hooked up directly to the sewing machine and it is not very intuitive.

I would save the money on the embroidery unit and, if you really want an embroidery machine, invest in a used Brother machine.

What a wonderful DH!! Congrats on your new machine!! I have a 200 and I love it!! I want a smaller machine, like a 220, to take to classes etc and we (my DH and I) went to pick one out today and they were all gone! After we left, he said why don't you just get the 240. So guess I'll go back Monday and get a 240!! Enjoy your new machine, Mary!!
